Handpull cask at the Kings Head, Leicester.mid-brown, a little bit translucent, a small beige/khaki head. Aroma is caramel, liquorice, a little bit of leather. Sweet taste, a fair hit of lactose with notes of liquorice and smoke beside it. Some bitterness in the finish. Very watery body with little carbonation. It's a bit bizarre, although decent enough to drink once.

Cask at Dog, Burton on Trent. Pours a slightly hazy gold with a small foamy cream head and good lacing. There’s a zesty aroma with citrus, kiwi and hints of gooseberry. In the mouth it is quite bitter with a creamy texture. Flavour has some floral hops, grains and caramel with hints of citrus and spice coming through later. Finish is dry and somewhat sticky. This is reasonable.

Friday afternoon, 17th January 2025. Hand pulled half-pint during a pub crawl around Skipton, third bar (Early Doors). Clean amber pour, white crown, looked good and it was a fine English Pale Ale, more malty than hoppy but the Challenger hops do add some bitterness.

The creamy head on its very dark appearance makes this relatively standard but tasty porter very good looking. The enjoyment is best in its mildly chocolatey subtly roasted aftertaste.
