Cask at Hatch End, W’Spoons. Dark brown pour with a beige head. Roasty aroma. Chocolatey, roasty taste. I could not detect any coffee whatsoever. Rather thin and bland, was expecting more.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms, Bristol 11/11/09. Deep brown with a slight tan head. Roasty aroma with some milk chocolate. Flavour was malty, with more roastiness and some sweet dark fruits, leading to a dry finish. I couldn’t detect coffee either, but it was pleasant enough.

Cask at The Penny Black, Bicester, Oxon, 07-11-09 Had this with the Large Breakfast, I always go fo the Large Breakfast and can state quite categorically that I’ve never yet completed one, anyway back to the beer. Pours conker brown with a rim of tan bubbles. Some burnt toast in mouth and on nose, bitter coffee, its malty and roasty and nicely bitter. Good beer. Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading. Amber with a dense creamy off-white head; fruity aroma; smooth and creamy texture, almost nitrokeg style but without the gas; dry and fruity with some apricot and orange; well-balanced bitterness but a rather sweet finish. Very pleasant.
