Can (from Alko Prisma Hemstrand, Vaasa). Hazy yellow colour with a quite thick white head, but which goes away before leaving lace. Aroma is nutty, some juicy citrus,, mild biscuity tones with some slight herbal elements. Flavour is fruity, floral, some biscuity and mild herbal tones with some citrus. Quite Nelsony aftertaste.

Bottle shared by Shane at the October 2023 PS tasting, 10/14/23.Near black, thin tan head, average retention. Aroma of roast, raisin, whisky, oak, baker's chocolate, honey. Taste is roast, raisin, chocolate, oak, whiskey, vanilla. Almost no heat. Very nice.

A small taste @ the flagship Alko, press blind tasting. Pours hazy yellow with a medium creamy head. Aroma is juicy malts, some overripe fruits. Flavor is juicy malts with a hoppy finish. Balanced, but maybe a bit thin. Still pretty decent.

16oz can from Ratman! Nose is toffee, a hint of citrus, brown sugar, and biscuits! Rusty brown with a heavy lacing tan head. Flavor is moderately bitter with only a hint of sweetness and a slight hint of vanilla caramels.Pretty good barleywine!

Aromas are citrus, peach, spice. Flavors are somewhat similar to nose, add in a good dose of MJ. Good balance between sweet, bitter and carbonation. Bittersweet finish. Nice beer.

16oz can from Tavour. Near black pour, ring of brown head. Aroma is chocolate with light peppery notes, malty, roasty. Taste is dark chocolate, roasty, peppers not so spicy in the taste but the heat lingers for a while. Not as hot as you'd think from the name.

Tip Tap draught, 10/14/23. Dark, undetermined clarity. Dark beige head, low retention. Nose is light brett but also a good amount of lactic and light acetic. Maybe a bit more acetic than necessary. Roasted malt/unroasted barley adds char and roast which doesn't work well with the strong souring character of the bacteria. Some light wood and scant blackberry. Reasonable texture with good malt, wood tannin and depth. A touch of chewy, chocolate-like sweetness really saves the beer from being a roasted, sour, vinegar bomb. Just too much sourness here, especially in the form of vinegar and roast. Not boozey at least. Don't get too much blackberry (which is probably a good thing, as this certainly doesn't need more acidic notes).

Tip Tap draught, 10/14/23. Dark, possibly clear. Deep purple highlights. Tan head quickly fades to ring. Nose has a quick shot of bourbon liquor and wood followed by big chocolate, light alcohol and heavy dark fruit. Some charred malt and vanilla lingering. Clean. In the mouth there's the same bourbon liquor-like character up front, very dry and strong. Malt crowds in and gives some light syrup to the texture as an onslaught of prune begins. Don't really get much more from the barrel for the remainder of the beer. It's SO dark fruit-forward it's ridiculous. Like a glass of prune juice. Would have guessed this was brewed with prunes. Some lingering soy, molasses and caramel sweetness.
