Oak cask. Dark brown colour with a red hue. Nice malty aroma. Malty/sweet, slightly salty flavour. A little burning sensation, alcohol or spices? Nice hint of mould.

Bottled (BB 03/2005)
Very dark copper brown with foamy off-white head. Very mild, a bit sweet aroma. Mouthfeel is slightly watery with roasted malts and hop bitterness. Like a British version of dunkel.

Aromas of malt and dried fruit. Dark brown with a thin head that laces the glass. Flavors of prunes, sweet wine, and malt. Thinner palate than I would like for the style. good.

Rich amber colour with predominantly ruby highlights and a thin off-white head. Aroma of musty malt, very light hops and a slightly old basement nuance. Medium-bodied; Sweet pit fruit tastes up front, which fade into a musty malt presence a few seconds later. Slightly fruity in the palate, not much but noticeable. Overall, a decent beer...fairly average for the style, but not the best I've had! I bought this twelve ounce bottle from Total Wine in Manassas, Virginia and sampled it on 20-December-2003.

This has that musty, cellared, yeasty aroma I've notcied in most other Old Ales, with a slight hint of alcohol - the flavor is mildly sweet and fruity, with tiny vinous notes - medium-bodied - moderately malty, with touches of roastiness - I'm not a huge fan of Old Ales, but this beer is pretty good.

A tasty, malty ale. I was surprised at how dark this one poured- it looks like a porter at first, but Old Peculier is actually ruby-colored. Nice, sweet aroma and rich, malty, fruity flavor. One of my favorites outside the realm of beastly stouts.

Beautiful ruby color, generous head. Some malt character, caramel and light liquorice in the aroma and taste. Often over extimated.
