Bottle. Put it into a thistleish Tripel Karmeliet glass - to which I guess a Belgian Scotch Ale following the Carmelite tradition might be suited. Ha. It looks good in it too -very dark brown with a beige head that settles to a dense inch. Big malty aroma with dark sugars, dough, spices, licorice. Full bodied, maybe a bit fizzy. Not as sweet as I'd guessed with a touch of vinegar toffee, singed and toasted notes offsetting the brown sugar and stewed fruit elements before firmish bitterness. Carries its alcohol with aplomb. Better as it warmed to ~12C.

Smooth and fruity, surprisingly light. Somewhat sweet and creamy, a bit yeasty, dry. Nice.

Bottle at home. Two year old. Pours a slightly hazy mahogany colour with a huge beige head. Aroma of dried apricots, walnuts, dates, spice cake, forest floor and leather. Hints of chocolate. Flavour of raisins, bread crust, heather, black currants, alcohol and ends a little dry with grass. Has a slick mouth feel, medium to full-body and a light to medium bitterness. Rich and nice with an alluring aroma. I expected more malt in the flavour though. Would absolutely combine this with rich food or cheese next time.

33cl bottle from Sophie's beer store: Bottled on 15th Jun 2020. Drank at home on 20th Mar 2021. Light haze to the golden body, white head that tried to stay awhile. Pretty sweet Tripel from start to finish. My sweet tooth liked it, but you could feel the 8.5% ABV, which is fine if you want 'the buzz', but I prefer the alcohol to creep up on me, not hit me in the face.
