On tap at Hopcat A2. Pours a clear amber with a near white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma is full of sour red fruits with some cherry and a decent amount of acid. Flavor is full of sour red fruits with a touch of oak underlying.

Bottle from mikem409, thanks for the opportunity! Solid dark black with the faintest of garnet at the edges and a bubbly off white head that shows poor retention. Brown sugary, fruity syrup, roast with hints of chocolate, coffee, vanilla, and light coconut. A bit sticky and syrupy with a nice warming alcohol. A sipper for sure, but hides the alcohol well, I wish I’d waited for a cold winter night for this.

12 ounce can into pint glass, no can dating. Pours lightly hazy bright golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big lemon, pear, apple, wheat, cracker, biscuit, light honey, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance of pale malt, fruity yeast, and earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of big lemon, pear, apple, wheat, cracker, biscuit, light honey, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, pear, apple, wheat, cracker, biscuit, and and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Damn good robustness and balance of pale malt, fruity yeast, and earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness after the finish as well. Medium carbonation and light-medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly creamy/bready/sticky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.8%. Overall this is a damn nice American blonde ale style. All around great balance and robustness of pale malt, fruity yeast, and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth, crisp, and clean to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

22 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled in fall 2014. Pours slightly hazy deep orange/amber color with a 1 finger fairly dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Aromas of raisin, plum, fig, pear, apricot, apple, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, toffee, bourbon, toasted oak, light pepper/clove, and yeast/oak earthiness. Nice aromas with good complexity and solid balance of fruity/earthy yeast, dark malt, and bourbon barrel notes; with good strength. A bit too fruity/boozy in the nose. Taste of big raisin, plum, fig, pear, apricot, apple, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, light coconut, light pepper/clove, and yeast/oak earthiness. Fair amount of bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, plum, fig, apricot, apple, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, light pepper/clove, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, dark malt, and bourbon barrel flavors; with a great malt/oak spiciness balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light amount of dryness present after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a smooth and lightly slick/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with light-moderate warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a very good barrel aged English barleywine style. All around good robustness, complexity, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, dark malt, and bourbon barrel flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the huge ABV. With a bit more body and darker malt complexity this would have been better, but was still a nicely enjoyable offering overall.
