Tap @ OTH. Lucky to have this on tap. Thanks Tony. Pours amber, huge foam, beige head. Aroma oaky. fruity with sugary notes. Taste, sweet and tingly to the palate. Light fruity notes (apple), hoppy, some sugary malts. Mouthfeel and palate get the nice touch of oaky, close to a brandy barrel. Hard to believe the beer was only 5.6%.

bottle at Ft Wayne locals tasting - Pours dark brown with a thin, lingering tan head. It smells of sweet roast malt and a little alcohol. The flavor is of roast coffee accented malt with a good balance of moderately strong hops. It’s full bodied and lightly carbonated with a roasty, rather bitter finish. Nice.

On tap at the OTH (Oldsmar Tap House). It poured up very foamy and it took Tony a while to complete the tumbler fill. It ended up with a clear garnet body and quarter inch tan head with cool looking creamy looking lumpy layered foam top. The aroma was fairly light and consisted of mostly dry fruity wine notes followed by mild wood/oak and faint malts in the back. The taste was very similar. I had to strain to pick up the base beer notes behind the full fruity red wine like flavors, dry tannins and oak wood notes. At the finish the base beer started to show up but only in a supporting role bringing mild malty notes and even milder notes of citrus hops. Seems to be too smooth and mild a base beer for barrel aging. Or maybe it could be aged a little less to keep the beer notes from getting smothered.

Bottled. A deep red beer with a thin yellowish head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of berries and fruit, and so is the flavor, though combined with light notes of alcohol and cocoa. The finish is dry. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

22 cL bottle. Clear and golden amber with a lacing white head. Hoppy and slight woody aroma. Vague citrusy note too. Smooth and dry malty base flavour with a distinct and solid hops spiced bitter flavour on top. Dry and bitter finish with a dark fruity note and a solid wooden base into the far finish.

Pours deep mahogany into a snifter. Mocha head with medium retention leaves spot lacing as it recedes to coat surface. Licorice and pit fruit aromas. Sweet and full upfront with caramel, figs and prunes. Lasting licorice and dry hop finish.

Draft. Dark brown/black beer with an off-white head. Nice whiskey, malt, light roast aroma. Whiskey, malt, berry/stone fruit flavor with light roast. Medium bodied. Light roast, whiskey, malt, and fruit linger. Fruiteier than expected. Roast just works - doesn’t quite take away from the beer, but almost does.

Taste is sweet medium/dark malt-caramel/chocolate, roasty, dark fruit-fig/raisin, secondary hops bitterness. Semi dry finish. Medium body. Good carbonation. Thanks to Joe-jwc215 for picking this out.

Golden-brown. Clear, but sufficiently dark so as not to see through it. No head. Figgy aroma with date syrup, tomato and a piloncillo like dark sugar note. Soft, somewhat chewy but the sugars tone it down. Understated bitterness and a warming finish. Fits in somewhere between a dubbel and an old ale. One of Hebrew’s better efforts.

Deep brown coloured body with a thick glow and a nice sized tan head. Very fragrant pit fruit, deep fruit flavours and a good heavy dose of malt and a touch of hops. Medium-bodied; Sharp pit fruit tastes with good sweetness and an overpowering maltiness coupled with some honey tones. Overall, a nice and thick beer - showing some pit fruit flavours and a ton o fmalt. Good to try, but not my favourite. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased on 09-May-2008 from K&E Discount Liquor in New Paltz, New York, sampled on 20-August-2008 home in Washington, D.C.
