Super deep amber coloured body with a dense off-white head. Aroma of tons of hops, caramel malt, alcohol, brandy and yes...even a bit of rye. Full-bodied; Sharp taste of metal, malt, caramel and very potent rye. Very strong flavours throughout with alcohol and rye being the most potent. Overall, a very hoppy and strong rye-based pale - good for those rye lovers, not good for those with discriminating palates ;-) I sampled this 65 cL bottle puchased at Oliver’s Beverage in Albany, New York on 06-November-2006.

I had some sampling of this beer when i was first released and I knew it was way too young. Glad i am waiting till now cause it is much better. Tap @ the Beer Table poured into a pilsner flute glass. Has a beautiful, rich, thick brown head that sits atop a thick black body. Aroma is dark, oily tobacco and aggressively hopped (green vine hops). There is a light flavor of licorice, the bitter chocolate with a pruney sweet finish. It also has a thicker, a little viscous mouthfeel. It was a delightful beer on a cold night.

Bomber from GM Liquors. Nose of toffee, caramel, prunes, and a light vanilla note. Black with a small tan head that lightly laces. Flavor is toffee, chocolate, alcohol, and raisin pie. Finish is light alcohol warmth with light bitter and toffee notes. It probably will age very well.

Bottle. Rich mahogony beer with slight ruby highlights and a tan head. Dark fruit and caramel/toffee aroma with light darker malts. Cocoa, dark fruit flavor with rich malts and toffee. Fuller bodied. Rich malt lingers with toffee and light cocoa. Alcohol just present.

Bomber. Very dark brown color with a decent tan head. Aromas of treacle and dark roast malt. Near full bodied with creamy carbonation. Flavor is treacle, with some coffee, darker fruit and dark malt. There’s some slight heat in the finish. Pretty good stuff. Will there be a 13?

Bottle. Miles better than Twelve, which is a mess. Pours thick with a large dark brown head and a deep brown body. Aroma of brown sugar, molasses, wood aged, maple, light yeast and pear and alcohol. Taste is big with dark and burnt malts, maple and molasses, dark fruit and candi sugar and some caramel. Very syrupy mouthfeel.

22oz bottle. Opaque black color with a chalky thin head. Toffee cognac Barleywine aroma. Taste is similar, but surprisingly smooth and creamy for a beer of 12%. Really seems like a Dark Barleywine, which I find to be a unique uncredited sub-category. Rich, full of flavor, and palatable. Worth a try.

Bottle. Nice tarnished penny color with a one finger head and aromas of sweet malt with little else to offer. Flavor is highly bitter with a caramel malt backbone and a little bit of a metal edge. Has a slightly astringent side to it, which is a little off-putting. This is pretty mediocre.

Sent in a picture to be uploaded. Pours with a small, brown head that reverts to a small ring. Near black body. Aroma has lots of hops, citrus, various malts including chocolate, toffee, with banana esters, cinnamon and leather. Lots of stuff going on. Taste is lots of malts, with esspresso, banana, chocolate, brown sugar, toffee, leading to a roasted malt bitterness, and then in to a pure hop bitter smash, leaving your taste buds scattered and confused in your mouth. Really, there is way too much going on in this beer. A few sharp/biting bubbles, watery mouthfeel for the ABV, but very filling at the same time.
