bottle on 4/30/14 - Pours dark brown with a small tan head. It smells of cocoa, cinnamon, and plenty of malt. The taste is very sweet with chocolate and spice. The 8% abv is not noticeable. Very good.

Reviewed from notes.
The appearance was a dark amber/red colored body with a one and a half finger’s worth of foamy white head that leaves some lacing that clings to a spider web effect to the sides of the glass.
The smell was a sweet and spicy rye malt, some sweet sugary notes.
The taste was mainly sweet through the previously noted aromas, sticky rye aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, it sat at/about a medium, actually slightly sessionable despite the alcohol saying its supposed to be at 10% so it seems to be hidden well (I wonder how old this is...?). Carbonation is pretty smooth for a DIPA.
Overall, this is a good DIPA that I would come back to. I like the fact that for the ABV it comes across fairly drinkable.

Sampled on draft at Hou Thou this beer poured a black color with a small foamy tan head that faded quickly and left no lacing. The aroma was strong sweet dark fruits, plum, cherry, raisin and tart grape jelly. The flavor was tangy and tart grape jelly, plum, raisin, cherry, a bit of toffee and tobacco. Somewhat boozy. Long tart and tangy fruit, toffee and booze finish. Full bodied. Excellent.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 5/8/14
Aroma: The nose is mostly hops, grapefruit/citrus mostly, with some light roast as well
Appearance: Pours a dark brown color with a creamy, lasting light brown head and coating lace
Flavor: The taste is medium bitter, with some mid-palate roast, and a juicy, citrus hop finish
Palate: The body is medium, has a pretty creamy feel, average carbonation, and a long duration
Overall Impression: This is a pretty tasty beer. As far as the style goes, this one leans more toward the citrusy hop side, and has less roast than most. However, the roast that is there is enough to provide some nice balance. It drinks nicely too.

22 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 2/18/2013. Pours pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big sour cherry, green apple, raisin, prune, caramel, toast, toffee, chocolate, oak, clove, red wine, vinegar, musty funk, leather, herbal, light vanilla, light bourbon, and yeast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/funky yeast, dark malt, and moderate bourbon barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of big sour cherry, green apple, raisin, prune, caramel, toast, toffee, chocolate, oak, clove, red wine, vinegar, musty funk, leather, herbal, light vanilla, light bourbon, and yeast/oak earthiness. Nice amount of fruity/earthy tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of sour cherry, green apple, raisin, prune, caramel, toast, toffee, chocolate, oak, clove, red wine, vinegar, musty funk, leather, herbal, light vanilla, light bourbon, and yeast/oak earthiness. Fantastic complexity and balance of fruity/funky yeast, dark malt, and bourbon barrel flavors; with an awesome sweetness/tartness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a smooth and moderately creamy/acidic mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is well hidden with only a small warming present after the finish. Overall this is an outstanding sour strong ale! All around fantastic complexity and balance of fruity/funky yeast, dark malt, and bourbon barrel flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

2007 bottle. Malty, lightly oxidized nose, aged, raisins, chocolate fudge, oranges. Dark brown with orange, no head. Flavors of vanilla, chocolate, raisins and other dark fruits, bitterness still there. Slightly astringent in the finish, like bitter chocolate. Nicely tart, like blackberries. Dry and complex and definitely aged well.

@zebf 2014 - Strong aroma of roasted malt and alcohol. It’s very thick and rich. Complex flavour, heavy on the bitter roasted malts but with some hop notes in the background too. Warming.
