Bottled. A pitch black beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of chocolate, and light notes of alcohol and citrusy hops. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of hard roasted malt, bitter chocolate, cocoa beans, and citrusy hops.

Shared with Kinz for an impromptu tasting. Cloudy amber body with a small off-white head. Fresh banana aroma with a ight clove background. Sweet banana flavor, some clove and a fairly carbonated mouthfeel.

As much as I like the two other Hoppin Frog beers I have tried, I disliked this one. Its malty sweetness and strong alcohol dominate everything, pushing aside any subtle aromas and flavors that may be part of this beer. Clear deep golden color with small, diminishing off-white head. The aroma is sweet with notes of plastic and alcohol. Very, very subtle smell of spice and fruit. The flavor is heavily sweet. The alcohol heavily influences the finish. Sticky mouthfeel. Minimal carbonation. A disappointment.

bottle shared by thedm and hotstuff - Pours copper with a thin head and some clouds of suspended yeast. It has both citrus and pine notes in the hop dominated aroma. There’s a good, crisp hops flavor that’s well balanced by the caramel malt. The bitter finish seems slightly off.

Shared by Goldtwins (thanks, Larry!) - glowing coudy orange, with a fizzy, short-lived head - earthy, citrus aroma, though a bit soapy - thinish body - semi-tart, with an almost sour orange flavor to it (not the rind, or the fruit, but that membranous stuff that holds the fruit together - you know what I’m talkin’ about) - medium wheat malt presence - different, but not in an entirely good way.

Bomber shared by Goldtwins. Poured into large snifter glass. Color is very murky, dark, dank, yellow with orange tints. The color was beautiful and allowed for very little clarity in the beer. Barely any head. Aroma: strong with a weird, sweet, and original spicy wheat. It’s floral-sweetness that’s hopped a bit and has a sweet-spicyness. Taste is a bit of a let down, seemed so empty, like lightly hopped mineral water with a hint of esters. Summary: original take on a hefe with hops but not enough esters for me and needs a bit more substance in the flavor profile.

This brew is a lightly hazed orange-amber color with a medium thick off-white head that dissipates steadily. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of fresh citrusy hops and pine. Full-bodied with a rich piney hops character and packed with floral notes, citrus and malt flavors. The finish is thoroughly hoppy and leaves a lingering aftertaste of sweet caramel malt. Overall a well-made and balanced IIPA.

Bottle pours a viscous deep black with a tall thick chocolate head......that reminds me, I need to change the oil on my 73 Dodge Dart. BIg roasted aroma with lots of sweet soft chocolate notes. Tootsie rolls and cinnimon rolls. Some coffee is in the flavor but still mainly very roasted and chocolately. Lacing the harch bitter bite that throws me off sometimes. lingering bitterness ballances the sweet fdark malts nicely. Moderate carbonation. Just enough. Coats your mouth a bit and it sticks with you. A nice Impy. Thanks Buckeyeboy and his secret santa.

Huge off-white head that tops a clear deep amber/orange body. Floral hop aroma. The flavor is smooth, slightly bitter, but not overly so, with no sticky sweetness to detract from it either. Well balanced. A good IPA.
