Bottle. Pour is a thick and dark brown with little carbonation and very little head. Aromas are earth... moist humus, vanilla, and roasted malt, but has some highlights of berries and cherries with a little bit of cocoa. Flavor is another story... it develops wonderfully from a bitter cocoa onset to a roasty and slightly peat-like midseciton and then finishes with bitter chocolate and raspberries. Lovely.

Pour is a thick dark black with no head. Aroma is very nice. Lots of dark chocolate aromas hit the nose followed by a nice roasted quality bringing up the rear is the alcohol. Flavor is again a thick dark chocolate with some roasted oats and a alcohol burn. Finish leaves a thick coating on the tounge. A very nice rep of the style. Thick but very drinkable.

Thick-looking ultra dark brown. Beany, chocolatey, slightly phenolic aroma has an almost fudgey quality. Slightly fudgey in the body with decent chocolate notes and accents of nuts. Late alcohol burn. Thick, but rather standard, impy.

Very west coast character. Grapefruit aroma and lots of bitter grapefruit and citrus in the flavor. Some sweet malt for balance. Good palate and a hazy gold appearance.

Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured thick, black and oily with a medium sized incredibly dark brown head. The aroma was sweet and roasty with notes of spice, pepper and coffee. The flavor was bitter and roasty with strong sweet chocolate and coffee. The finish was long roasty chocolate. The mouthfeel was thick and smooth. A bit of alcohol showed through but did not overly distract from what was a very tasty brew.

Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark red-bronze color with a medium sized orange-white head. The aroma was strong pine, resiny and fruity hops. One could almost smell the hop leaves on this one! The flavor was sweet yet bitter with a very strong flora, piney and grapefruity hop presence. The overall mix of hops was mildly harsh but complex. The malt base was thick and lightly sweet. Nice.

Pour is a hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma is some banana and clove but not much there. Flavor is a bit weak with some spice and clove but again nothing really stands out. Maybe I got a bad bottle seeing other ratings here because this is just average in my book.

22 oz. bottle shared by Gregis at the csbosox tasting on 3/7/08. Pour is deep cola brown. Decent tan head. Aroma of pine hops and roasted malt. The nose was very fresh smelling. Taste definitely represents both the hoppy pale ale and the big roasty coffee stout. Nicely made, and very interesting. As it warms, get a lot more of the stout. Thanks for sharing this one Greg.

Pours black into a snifter. Mocha head recedes to hug rim leaving no lacing. Chocolate and alcohol aromas. Metallic aromas. Tingly chocolate upfront with light body and a lasting cocoa-espresso finish.
