One of the more recent additions to the range, though probably a derivative of their Egmont Tripel. A stereotypical malty tripel, hazy blond, with fruity esters and a mild bitterish, grassy hoppy finish. Standard but good.

Classic blond session ale in abbey beer style, named after a local saint and launched in 1996. Irregular, coarse, medium thick, yellowish white head, pure golden blonde colour, misty. Malty, creamy and fruity nose, apple, melon, peach, cheese, butter, fennel, straw, white pepper, flour, honey. Fruity but not too sweet taste, pale malts, bit grainy, refreshing, somewhat creamy mouthfeel, buttery, with mild grassy hops in the finish. I have the impression this is now more hopped than it used to be - and therefore improved.

Out of a bottle. Hazy yellow with a full white head. Spiciness on both aroma and flavor. Some fresh cut meadow on aroma. Medium thin mouthfeel. Slight alcohol warmth.

Blonde session beer made for the Livinusfeesten of Sint-Lievens-Esse of 2007, which take place every 50 years (the one but last time they took place, Van Den Bossche created their Pater Lieven Bruin for the occasion, by the way). Pale malts, restrained fruity yeastiness and limited hop bitterness in the finish, but very drinkable; apparently intended as a top-fermented counterpart of pale lager.

DØE. Clear very dark brown with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, a little roasted malt and a little wood. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Sweet and moderate bitter finish with warming alcohol. 240514

Bottle (one month after "best before date") . Pours clear golden yellow with medium thick white head and a lot of large particles. Aroma is malt, grain, yeast, lemon, hints of yoghurt and spice. Taste is medium sweet, light bitter and light sour. Body is oily with good carbonation. Finish is long and mostly sweet with notes of malt, caramel, lemon, cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, chalk and vinegar. Good balance

Clear light dark brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting to diminishing, off-white to light beige - grey head. Aroma is moderate malty, moderate to light heavy wood - oak. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, roasted, red wine, bordeaux. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat, finish feel is light alcoholic. Special wine-barrel aged Buffalo since 2012, on 75 cl. Not very stable, ecru-coloured, creamy head, colour a very dark bronze, almost blackish. Sweet, complex aroma of cider, port wine, coconut, oak, dates, banana, liquorice, caramel, dessert wine, chocolate milk, vanilla, pomegranate. Sweet taste of candi, liquorice, raisins and dates, lots of caramel, supple but rather thin mouthfeel, finishing with the sweetness from the onset (almost cloying), wood notes and warming alcohol but to my taste, not enough hops to balance the sweetness. Interesting because of its complexity but too sweet for me and not really my taste.

Strong version of the classic Buffalo, originally only intended for export on 75 cl. Yellowish beige, dense head, colour a very opaque brown, bordering on black but not the jet black I would expect from a big stout. Aroma of liquorice, coffee, almond, milk chocolate, candied dates, cane sugar, biscuit, aniseed, blue grapes; taste malty, soft with a powdery and somewhat oily mouthfeel, dark fruits, sweet, perhaps even a tad syrupy, nice spicy notes adding complexity and finishing in a kind of friendly roasted bitterness with herbal hops and warming alcohol. Very well balanced.
