Deep amber brown colour, small frothy light tan head, recedes after a while but a thick layer remains, good lacing. Aroma sweet malts, caramel, brown sugar, fruity (cherry, berries), roasty notes, soap. Taste is medium sweetbitter and on the whole quite light. Medium body, light oily texture, carbonation average, mild sweet fruity finish. Overall this is a rather shy beer, especially taste and aftertaste are on the flat side and the soap in the aroma is a drawback.

Bottle at Cotteridge Wines; clear golden yellow pour with a massive frothy white head, earthy hop aroma, taste has grapefruit, intense bitterness, toffee, some yeast action.

Keg @ De Zandloper Taphouse, Brugge. Very dark with good pale malt Belgian ale nose. There’s a hint of roasted malt in its taste, and texture wise it has a lovely smoothness about it with a pleasant sweetened malt finish.

Nose is underwhelming, sweet, Belgian yeast, slight lactose, lots of almond / marzipan, cola. Taste lacks depth, brown sugar, vanilla, cola, slight lactose and almond in the lightly spiced finish, The beer lacks depth. Mouthfeel is thin The beer seems more like a spiced West Indian stout than an Imperial, and it’s not great.

Bottle. Pours hazy orange amber with airy off-white head. Clear aroma of fruit and malt, with estery and flowery notes. Bitter, hoppy flavour, complemented by sweetish, fruity and malty notes and touches of citrus and yeast. Bitter and citric aftertaste with estery hints. Well balanced and nice and but not top notch.

Bottle from a bottle shop in Brugge. Pours hazy coffee brown with airy but creamy and stable light tan head. Clear aroma of fruit, flowers and hops, with notes of malt. Sweetish flavour of caramel malt and fruit, with notes of roast, hops and flowers. Bitter, roasty aftertaste with sweetish, estery and malty hints. Rather well balanced and quite decent.

Draught @ Fairbar, Århus. Pours brown with a small tan head. Aroma of malt, yeast, brown sugar, light wood, nuts. Flavor is light sweet, malty, brown suagr, wood, dark fruit, plums. Medium body, lively carbonation. 231014
