Description
Arthur Van den Bossche founded the brewery in 1897. After his death in 1925, Elenora Callebaut, Arthur's wife and daughter of the Callebaut brewers and chocolatiers family, continued the brewery. In 1935 Willy and Mark Van den Bossche, the 2nd generation, take the helm and further expand the brewery. Ignace son of Mark Van den Bossche, 3rd generation, becomes active in the brewery in 1976. In 2015 Bruno Van den Bossche takes over the brewery from his father. The 4th generation is now taking the lead.

New Beer Distributors, NYC 11.2oz ($4): Pours orange/gold with white head. Aroma is spicy, slightly fruity, and quite yeasty. Taste is slightly sweet. Sort of metallic. I was not particularly impressed by it in the least bit.

Bottle, thanks SirLimpsalot. Dark brown with a large head. Aroma and taste of light roasted malt, toffee and some berries. The body was light. Drinkable but nothing special.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein trübes goldenes Bier mit vielen Schwebeteilchen und schöner großen Schaumkrone. Geruch hefig, fruchtig, würzig. Geschmack fruchtig, hefig, sehr würzig, etwas Honig, minimal alkoholisch.

Good to drink on a hot day. Otherwise it’s a bit plain and unoriginal. Had it all before I guess.

Standard Belgian tripel. Has the usual traits of grain, malt, hop and fruits. Just very average.

Draught @ De Penge, Turnhout. Very dark brown color with a nice dark red hue coming through when held into the light, full sized creamy beige colored head that lasts for a decent while. Aroma is malts, dark malts, toasted malts, brown sugar, dried fruits. Taste dark malts, brown sugar, a light malt bitterness, lightly dark and a touch of roasted malts. Quite nicely balanced, but imo it doesn’t really stand out compared to similar beers, but it is definitely above average. Medium to full body, suitable carbonation.
