Description
The brewery was set up at the end of 2004 in a beautiful farmhouse called “L’Olmaia” in Val D’Orcia, near Siena, Tuscany, initially as a small firm producing up to 300 litres per batch.
In 2009 it was relocated a few kilometers to the east in the area of Sant’Albino, near Montepulciano, where the products could be sold directly to the public. Throughout the year we produce 6 types of beer, plus some special seasonal beers, all of which are strictly unpasteurized, unfiltered and re-fermented, both in the keg and in the bottle. The production plant was built, according to our production needs, by the company Tefo of Parma, and it now has a production capacity of 2,500 litres per batch thanks to 4 cylindroconical fermentation tanks with a capacity of 2,500 litres and 2 with a capacity of 1,500 litres.
Inside the Brewery you can find the Tap Room with 6 beers on tap, cold cuts, cheeses and bottled beers.

0,75 bottle courtesy of Valerio (grazie Valè), at Buskers in Rome-Italy. Golden pour a bit hazier than the regular one, minimal gassy head with little retention. Nose is wild vinous with a round note of strawberries. Mouth: clean and easy going with the firm character got from the wood where it has rested. Very tasty

Bottle picked up from Dranken Geers, Oostaker, Nr Gent, Belgie, consumed at home cooking Swedish Meatballs after a weekend away in Stockholm, Sunday 20th November 2016 Pours dark brown with a thin tan head, to be fair it was probably a bigger head but I was too busy cooking to rate at the time. This is reasonably decent Belgian strong ale, a little chewy at times, but too be fair it is not overly spicy, caramel, fruity, fine. A6 A4 T7 P3 Ov14 3.4

Amber color, hazed, big rocky yellowish head, persistent. Hoppy upfront. Aroma is mostly herbal, hoppy, yeast, some candy/caramelized nuts and dry leaves, chestnut flour maybe, malts are gone away. Violently hopped, taste is quite bitter, i think IBU is in the 60-80 range. Unexpectedly light body, extra dry finish, not prolonged, bitter.

750ml bottle. Dated May 10th, 2014 from lot 43, 2012. $2

Looks finely reddish brown, hazy to cloudy. Good head of foam.

Smells bitter, fruit tarty, a little bit of the sweet. Overall, kinda nasty.

Tastes worse than it smells. The tart fruit comes across as spoiled, the bitterness acentuates the ill feeling that I have for what it does to my palate. A few sweet notes here and there.

Mouthfeel is okay.

I paid $2 and feel overcharged.

Birrificio L’Olmaia: LaBrigida Spicy Blonde Ale. Samea kullankeltainen olut vaahtoaa hieman. Tuoksu hieman hedelmäinen, viljaisen maltainen. Maku aika pehmeä, aavistuksen sitruksisen katkera, vähän viljainen.

Bottle at Brew, Beers and Ciders, Bangkok. Poured a clear dark brown with a thin off white head. The aroma is liqourice floral hop alcohol. The flavour is moderate bitter with a fake sugar marshmallow light fruity spice palate. Medium bodied with lively carbonation.

75 cl bottle. Clouldy yellow color, massive and lively rocky white head that does not settle down. Aroma is prominently hoppy, bittering hops has a key role here. Light malty, with sugar, some candy and a fleble fruity note. Taste is balanced, sugary and intensely bitter. Carbonated, medium bodied, creamy/foamy texture, mouthfilling, smooth finish.
