Bottled. Almost clear, copper-colored. Weak, but pleasant aroma with dried fruits, sweetness and some spicey hints. Alcohol, sugar and dried fruits in the flavor. Medium, sweet and sparkling body. The finish is mostly alcohol, with some spice and dried fruits. The least interesting of the Urthel-beers. (060801)

(Draught at Akkurat, Stockholm, 14 July) Colour is dark ruby, with a dense firm off-white head, leaving lots of lacing. Nose is mainly malty and fruity with notes of wild berries and cherries. Taste is also malty with berries (cherries and blueberries). Initial sweetness turns drier towards the creamy, smooth finish. Nice, malty and easy to drink, maybe lacking some bite.

(Bottle 33 cl) Clear, orangey brown with a creamy, off-white head. Roasted malty nose. Medium to full body with a rather solid malt profile. Sweet, roasted malts basically without bitterness. A fairly solid Bock. 060706

A hazy orange beer with a head like whipped cream in an off-white shade. The flavor is very sweet - like a typical Belgian Triple - with notes of yeast - a bit too sweet for my liking. The flavor is very sweet and malty combined with a powerful, but somewhat dusty hops note, that resides for a spicyness with notes of cloves combined with yeast. The end is dry and yeasty.

Draught. Golden colour, huge white head. Strong hoppy flowery hot-summerdat-urineish aroma. Flavour is luckily better, but still it is harsh, grassy and hayish. Some sweet alcohol mixing in too. Feels very unbalanced in my opinion, and also the alcohol disturbs.

(Draught at Akkurat, Stockholm) Colour is pale amber/orange, with a firm, rocky head (like whipped cream) lasting throughout, leaving lots of lacing. Nose is dominated by the superb flowery hoppiness, hints of mandarin zest and pine needles. Taste is fruity and spicy with a compact hoppiness, hints of citrus (grapefruit, orange) and a long, dry, hoppy finish. Superb balance. Lovely!

750ml bottle-pours a big foamy retaining to rocky/shaving cream white head with slightly hazy yellow color with floating fuzzy matter and effervescence. Aroma is malt, slightly sweet fruit. Taste is rich malt, slightly sweet fruit, spicing/clove. Good effervescence.

Quite a bright and fruity, typically belgian aroma, with pear, banana, some lemon zest - huge hoppiness dominates the flavor, initially, but then the sweeter, milder, more subtle belgian notes are allowed to show their face beneath the bracing hops - doughy, almost vanilla flavor comes in for the finish - between this and De Ranke XX, I’m looking forward to more hoppy belgian ales.
