440ml can. Noisy when opened. Deep amber in colour with a thick, but small white head. Lacing on the glass. Satisfying malty aroma. Flavour has hints of malt and bitterness but is mostly destroyed by the beer’s creamy smoothness. Easy to drink and quite refreshing.

First ratingCan. Golden color with a nice creamy white head. I really like the color of these sorts of beer when poured in a glass. Faint fruity scent and taste. Medium bitterenss and palate. Easy to drink, but still not easy to make. A well made beer well worth trying, which I have and will, several times.7/5/7/3/13=3.5Second rating(can from Systembolaget)Copper color, dense tan head. Fruity scent. Fruity and malty taste. A bit thin mouthfeel. Low bitterness.6/4/6/3/12=3.1

Can. Pale golden with a nice dense, white head leaving lacings. Malty and hoppy aroma, but quite weak. Flavor is much the same. Thin to medium body and a finish with some bitterness and metallic notes. "The taste of Britain" it says on the can. Think not! Rating: 4-3-4-3-9-2.3. 060410
Can. A clear, golden beer with a small, off-white head. Weak nose with some dms. Grains and a fruity touch as well. The flavor is pretty much the same, boring and all that. Not much going in here, but at least it’s quite clean. 110403

Bottle 08-04-06. A warm golden colour, pleasantly hoppy and bitter. An excellent beer really enjoyed as had not had it for some time. A7 A4 T8 P3 Ov16 3.8 Had this again Bottle picked up at Waitrose, Wallingford, Oxon 15.11.11 consumed the same day Pours amber with large foamy sticky white head, really sticking to the glass on the way down. The carbonation is quite busy initially but settles down after a while. Flinty nose, wet pebbles, touch tinny, with some dusty hops. Quite soft in mouth, a little orange but there is a huge lengthy bittersweet rush, finish is a little dry, toffee and malts show more as this warms, good beer. A7 A5 T7 P4 Ov14 3.7

Can. Copper color and a dense nitro head. Weak aroma with malt and hops. Smooth mouthfeel and a flavor reminiscent of the aroma. Some light citrus notes too. Weak fruity and hoppy finish. Smooth and quaffable. (060323)

Very old bottle - meaning the original, real thing... Foxy-chestnut beer, clear (!); small, just off-white head, very dense. Quite nutty, walnut oil, but not much else. Beautifully aged, delicate brandy taste, with winelike madeirisation; a woody, oak-like finish. Very well bodied, oily MF. More nutty, not over-oxydised aftertaste. Nice, malty, chewy beer, just a little too light to my taste - but the real thing. And than now, the cask version, as per Mark Dorber Amberish-orange beer with a better than usual B.C."H.". 4/5 Cookie malts, very fresh hops, but dosed, hint at caramel, whiff of ureum. 7/10 Very "beery" ale: combination of malts, caramel- and cookie- , fresh noble UK-hops, bit citrussy, and most important, in top-shape, complex. Grapey retronasal ending quite dry. 8/10 Light to medium bodied, slight slickness, sticky aftermath 4/5 Exceptionally good-tasting White Shield, better than I’ve ever had it. 15/20

Nitro-keg at The Spice of Life, London Xmas Pub Crawl. I agree with everything that Chris_o says about this beer, but it did go down quicker than the 2 McMullen’s beers. Copper colour with lasting creamy ivory head. Not a whole lot of aroma. Bit of sulphur on nose, some toffee and faintest edge of red berry fruit. However, mostly tasteless, but it did pour down the throat surprisingly easily
