Hazy gold with a large fluffy head that lingered and left decent lacing. Sweet and yeasty with golden fruit and perfume. Long finish. Moderately full bodied.

Bottle: Poured a deep brown color ale with a medium size off-white foamy head with some retention and lacing. Aroma of sweet caramelized malt notes with some light toffee notes with some barrel notes clearly distinguishable. Taste is also a mix of heavy caramelized malt notes with some residual sugar notes and barrel notes rounding off any rough edges in this beer. Body is full for style with good carbonation and light warming alcohol notes are perceptible. Solid BA version of this classic beer.

33cl bottle, 2025 vintage, from Abeervinum, Rimini, Italy. Pours an elegant reddish brown, transparent though kind of dark, with practically no foam. Aroma is intense, malty, caramel, molasses, a little earthy. Body is dense, sticky, with little carbonation. Taste is intensely sweet. The intense and very long final also has some toasty bitterness

Bottle from Beers of Europe, drank at home. One of the 300 Beers to Try Before You Die. At 14% not a beer to be taken lightly. Lots of flavour, my taste buds are not good enough to discern all the components. Would I drink it again, probably yes.

3L bottle. Holds up well for being 20 years old. This is really good. Smooth, slight balsamic. Showing a bit of age, but what do you expect after 20 years? Not re-rating this one as I've already rated it before, but wanted to note this for historical purposes. Just noting this here. Thanks Eugene for sharing this!

Cloudy golden yellow with large off-white head. Lemon, biscuit malt, and fresh hay aroma. Moderately sweet tangy lemon-orange, biscuit malt, and moderately bitter/astringent fresh hay/grass flavor. Good body.

Im Glas findet sich klares Goldgelb wieder. Die weiße, feinporige Schaumkrone zeigt sich dabei flaumig und sehr beständig. Die Duftaromatik wird von frischer, grasiger und floraler Hopfenaromatik geprägt. Eine zarte Malzstruktur lässt sich hintergründig wahrnehmen. Der Antrunk kommt leicht, frisch, relativ weichrezent und grasig bis floral hopfenbetont, ohne dabei sonderlich bitter zu werden. Im Mundgefühl präsentieren sich ein schlanker Körper, weiche Rezenz, eine leichte Textur und angenehme Trockenheit. Auf Zunge und Gaumen vernimmt man eine zarte, helle Malzbasis über der sich die frischen, grasigen und floralen Hopfenaromen tummeln. Nun setzt sich auch die Bittere in Szene und wird dem Stil absolut gerecht. Das Gesamtbild darf man letztendlich als relativ einfach, sauber und stiltypisch bezeichnen, bleibt aber zumindest interessant was die Hopfenaromatik anbelangt. Eine gute Trinkbarkeit ist auf jeden Fall gegeben. Im Nachtrunk fallen die zarten Malznoten rasch ab. Die Hopfenaromatik hält gut an und endet in einem herben bis bitteren Finish.

Bottle from Drankenhandel Leiden. Sweet and boozy with sweet dark malts, caramel, some chocolate, roast, roasted nuts, chocolate syrup, sugar. Sweet flavour, sugary, boozy, medium to full sticky body. Surprisingly delicious.
