Description
Since George and Susannah Bateman opened our independent family brewery in 1874, we’ve been using the best possible ingredients and craft brewing methods to make beers that people love.
Four generations later, and we’re still doing things our own way – and have quite a few more beers to our name.

Cask-conditioned, on gravity, at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol March 2023. Golden in colour with a slight, white, head. A little citrus character, touch of butter, caramel, light malts and a dryish finish. Ok.

Bottle from Morrisons Supermarket, Moston. Extremely dark with a light-brown head. Has an interesting red-berry winter style fruitiness, with a sweetness, but not particularly sweet - feeling a bit like a 'parma violet' candy. This is its creamy element as stated on the bottle.

Vintage 2013. 500ml bottle with box. No fajne ale te 10 lat specjalnie nic nie wniosly. Pachnie truskawkami, poziomka i miodem kwiatowym.

Bottle. 2013 vintage. Shared at a neighbour's Hogmanay party 2022/23. Pours clear reddish amber with a thin beige head. Aromas of sherry and nuts, Christmas spice. Taste is light sweet, nutty and fruitcake also. Really nice. Might haved been helped by being under jeevan's floorboards for the last 8 years. Who knows?

Cask The Gordon Highlander. It pours clear mahogany brown with a lasting frothy off white head. The aroma is woody, nutty, bitter - sweet, toffee, caramel, fruit cake, pie crust, brown bread and cola. The taste is dry, bitter - sweet, chewy, toothy, toffee, caramel, splash of cola, dried fruits, fruit cake, wood, nutty, light spice, leafy vibes and earth with a drying finish. Medium body and soft, but we'll appointed carbonation. Like this quite a bit. Flavourful and balanced. Nice.

Half-pint, 6 % abv, festival cask ale at Lord Palmerston. Near-clear red-brownish body, filmy layer, spotty lacing. Dried fruity nose, hints of caramel malts, inviting. Blended taste of stewed fruits and caramel malts. Mid-sweet malty ending, dry. Rounded mouthfeel and fine bodied. Pretty decent. (JDW). (Southsea 18.10.2022).
