Description
Since George and Susannah Bateman opened our independent family brewery in 1874, we’ve been using the best possible ingredients and craft brewing methods to make beers that people love.

Four generations later, and we’re still doing things our own way – and have quite a few more beers to our name.

Vintage 2013. 500ml bottle with box. No fajne ale te 10 lat specjalnie nic nie wniosly. Pachnie truskawkami, poziomka i miodem kwiatowym.

Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm. Dark brown, small head. Mild aroma of datk berries and licorice. Mid sweet with light body and rather clean mouthfeel. Spicy toasty grain and tart dark berries. Mid bitter finish. Lacks the softness I look for in milds.

500ml bottle on Christmas Eve, 2025. Poured into my Batemans pint sleeve at home while hosting a little 'Do' for family and friends. Clean and clear light amber body, white crust on top. Malty front with a decent earthy hop centre and finish. Hoped for something a little more exciting if I'm honest.

Cask at the White Swan (JDW), London before going to see Dea Matrona at the Garage in Highbury. Dark brown with a creamy head. Chocolate cherries up front. Really quite chocolately actually. Lots of Ribena and cranberry juice. Really quite fruity actually! But then soot and burnt, bitter malt - really quite sooty actually - which does clash a bit with all the sweet chocolatey fruitiness. It's certainly full-flavoured and interesting, and I did quite enjoy it - but they definitely need a chimney sweep in to deal with some of that soot. Dea Matrona were excellent by the way.

A clean, golden colour with a small, quickly dissipating whitish head. A subtle aroma, with pleasant hop fruitiness and pine notes. Full body, medium carbonation, rather dry with a distinct, herbal, slightly stem-like bitterness. The taste is refreshing with exotic fruit, citrus, and a touch of caramel. A cross between a traditional British IPA, West Coast, and East Coast. A pleasant everyday beer.
