Description
Since George and Susannah Bateman opened our independent family brewery in 1874, we’ve been using the best possible ingredients and craft brewing methods to make beers that people love.
Four generations later, and we’re still doing things our own way – and have quite a few more beers to our name.

Cask at GBBF 25. Dark and glossy. Thick foamy beige head. The aroma has dsrk chocolate with a nutty streak. Kinda nougat-esque. Peripheral berries. Flavourwise it amps up. Tart berries and bitter coffee and charcoal. Light-medium bodied. Soft carbonation. Long dry astringent finish. Quite a punchy mild. Too much in this case, I would suggest.

[Cask at the Petwood Hotel, Woodhall Spa, the officer’s mess used by 617 Squadron at the time of the Dambuster raid.] An attractive bronze coloured pour with a thick cream coloured head; malty aroma; caramel malt taste, with an English hop bitterness. An old fashioned best bitter, and the perfect way to remember the bravery of the squadron.
