Description
In August 1982, our late founder Tony Allen opened Oak Brewery on an industrial estate in Ellesmere Port. After much success, he moved nine years later to a location more central to his trading areas. Phoenix Brewery, Heywood!
Phoenix Brewery was registered in 1874, brewing directly from the Brewery tower and owning over 100 pubs in the local area. Phoenix’s history is still proudly displayed on our seven-story tower.
Building upon our strong foundations, we continue to brew Tony’s longstanding classic beers, whilst introducing innovative new brews. The team are looking forward to welcoming you to our Brewery site – soon to be open to the public for the first time in our history!
In 1996 it took the decision to trade as the name of the brewery Phoenix Brewery.

Cask @ Red Lion, Littleborough. Golden ale with a creamy head. It’s a malty brew as its aroma indicates. Slightly dry hopped taste.

Hand pulled cask ale, half at Fall Well (JDW). Unclear golden coloured body. Faint white head that laced well. Dusty hops to the nose as well as hints of honey sweetness. Lemony hops to the flavour character added by hints of citrus shells leading to a dry, bittersweet ending. Food friendly partner to the breakfast (Liverpool, 09.04.2013).

Cask. Pours a deep amber with a slight haze and a small and lacing off-white head. Caramellish nose, some overripe fruit. Rich body, chewy and toffeish, some lurking phenols but nothing to spoil the fun of a rich and warming winter ale. 300113

Cask. Pours an almost clear golden with a creamy, lacing off-white head. The aroma is fairly neutral fruity. Light body, low carbonation, fruity alright but also quite a hop bite leasing to a rather bitter finish. 300113
