Description
Four Winds joined the burgeoning BC craft beer scene and opened their doors to a public thirsty for new local offerings on June 1, 2013. Owned, operated and built from the ground up by the Mills family and friends, we are inspired by the Four Winds in gathering flavours from around the world to create our unique West Coast and European styles. We take great pleasure in the application of new world innovations while staying true to old world techniques. Motivated by the limitless potential of beer, as well as the great brewers who came before us, we aim to craft bold beers with character, depth, and balance.

On nitro tap at Four Winds, pours a dark orangey brown with a thick creamy off-white head. Nose is full-on pumpkin and pumpkin spices. Flavour brings out light pumpkin spices, probably subdued by the oats which don't impart any flavours. Decent, but rather boring.

On tap at the Alibi Room, pours a deep dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out subtle notes of cocoa nibs, a little banana and a little clove. Flavour brings out dry cocoa nibs, some wheaty notes, and clove. Quite dry and full-bodied. The cocoa nibs are the most front-and-centre flavour profile. Solid stuff.

On tap at the Alibi Room, pours a cloudy bright orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out the calamansi upfront, with some light Belgian notes and some light fruits. Flavour brings out pretty much nothing but calamansi, with some light pineapple. Not the best concoction from this brewery. A bit hot. Drinkable.

On tap at Four Winds, pours a hazy golden orange with a medium off-white head. Aroma brings out loads of watermelon, atop some grassiness and a little funk. Flavour brings out pungent watermelon notes that take centre stage, followed by subtler notes of grass and funk. The watermelon overtakes the saison qualities, but in a pleasant way. Really dry and crisp. Amazing drinkability. Awesome stuff - too bad this is a one off.
