Description
The former name was brewery De Brouwketel, which was in operation at the current location at least from 1706 onwards. In 1884 the brewery became the property of the Duysters family. In 1968 the company was transformed into Duysters NV (limited liability company) which was active as a brewery until 1973.
The Loterbol brewpub started in 1995 in a renovated part of the brewery from the 18th century. in 2002 brewing started in the old brewery building of 1908. Both locations are still used for brewing.

Pours with only a thin layer of head, yellowish orange colour. Smells of sour mash like a traditional lambic. Taste is a soft mix of sour lambic, offset by smoothness of a blonde ale. They balance each other quite well creating an interesting flavour that’s still more gueuze-like than anything else.

750ml Bottle - Red with a pink head. Cherry and almonds in the aroma. Tart and sweet taste with cherry, almonds and jam. Not too sweet and not too tart. Nicely balanced.

375ml Bottle - Hazy gold/amber. Musty aroma (typical lambic) with hints of hay. Tart taste with lemon, hops and a sour and tart finish.

bottle - Pours dark amber with flaky, practically chunky suspended yeast. There’s a half inch, long lasting light tan head. The aroma is of rich malt and dark fruit. It tastes sweet and malty with the dark fruit coming through nicely. This brew is medium bodied and certainly a good quaff.

Bottle: Presumably golden, very cloudy to milky; huge slowly collapsing off-white head; distinctive, call it peppery, hoppy nose with a robust sweet- fruity (oranges) background; robust bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied; lingering piney-hoppy finish balanced by a strong sweet fruitiness. Very nice brew.....

Bottle. A clear, sparkling brown beer, clear except for micro-floaties that is. A big, semi-coarse, beige head sits on top, leaving lacings as the beer is drank. The aroma has cellar and dried fruites, a faint puke-like touch, some sugar and herbal notes. Herbal, roasted flavor, quite bitter. Some prunes and alcohol too. Full-bodied, quite dry and with some warming qualities. Herbal bitterness in the end. Not my choice for a bruin, but not a bad one either. 100327

Bottle, 375ml corked. It’s a hazy, golden beer with a small, off-white head. Vinegar and funk on the nose, some fruity scents in the background. The flavor is quite sweet considering it’s acidic levels. Slightly funky and vinegarish. Medium body, astringent. The alcohol is quite hidden. A nice one, but a bit on the sweet side. I definately like it though. 100212

Courtesy of jdubFL. Pours clear gold with thin off white head. The aroma is on the funky side with notes like tart, apricots, pears, yeasty spices, sour like citrus and an odd earthy smell around the edges. The taste is pretty smooth with tartness, some apricot, sour funky moldy citrus and growing tartness. The big ABV is hidden very well. I get a lingering modest tartness heading into the after taste.
