Description
The former name was brewery De Brouwketel, which was in operation at the current location at least from 1706 onwards. In 1884 the brewery became the property of the Duysters family. In 1968 the company was transformed into Duysters NV (limited liability company) which was active as a brewery until 1973.
The Loterbol brewpub started in 1995 in a renovated part of the brewery from the 18th century. in 2002 brewing started in the old brewery building of 1908. Both locations are still used for brewing.

Lambic with a twist... An old and soft twist. Still nice for its age.

330ml bottle. Clear, pale amber colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Bready malty and slightly floral hoppy aroma, a touch of chamomile, some peppery yeasty spiciness, white pepper. Taste is minimally sweet, bready and biscuity malty, floral hoppy, hints of chamomile; oily texture, smooth and soft, minimally sticky palate.

Bottle, 2015, best before end of 2018. Color: Hazy dark brownish red, pink head. Aroma: Moderate tart, cherries, wood. Taste: Moderate tart and sweet and somewhat more bitterness. A lot of wood, oak. Clearly present deep dark red cherries, tart cherry-skin, cherry pit and even some plum-like notes. Bit earthy. Dry mouthfeel, a lot of tannins. Bittery and very dry, subtle cherry finish. Over medium to full body, below average carbonation. Tasting a bit old and a bit port-like oxidation, but I don't know whether it's really because of the extra aging or it's used to be like this. Nice.

Deep dark brown color, big brown frothy head. Yeasty aroma overpowering fruitiness. Very yeasty flavor with roasted malt and cherry. Very disappointing, not well balanced beer.

Dutch Ratebeer Meeting. Dark brown color, cloudy with a firm white head. Gusher. Malty aroma with red berries. Porto flavor. Sweet and sugary. Malty and vinous. Warming alcoholic effect. Much better as the Loterbol bruin, but certainly not my favorite.

Orange and amber color, slightly hazy. Caramel and cinnamon aroma. Thinnish caramelly flavor. Apple and melon, some alcohol. Hints of cinnamon, rosebuds. Flowery. One of the better Duysters beers, which isn't too difficult.
