As the No.1 Brewer in Wales, S.A. Brain & Co. Ltd are fiercely proud of their Welsh heritage and the fact that they remain family owned. Founded in 1882 by Samuel Arthur Brain and his uncle Joseph Benjamin, S.A. Brain & Co. Ltd have been brewing beer in Wales’ capital for more than 135 years.

In 2012 they opened the Brains Craft Brewery which allowed them to brew in smaller batches and be more experimental with their flavours. To date they have produced over 100 craft beers, and the Craft Brewery has become an integral part of the Brains beer range.

33cl can from LIDL. Medium creamy beige head, Clear black pour. Lovely bitterness.

Hazy blond with fluffy head. Aroma and flavour have some sweet yeasty notes and coriander. Clean and fresh but a bit too sweet.

Can from Asda. Pale golden colour with a white head. Aroma is lime herby and slight floral. Taste mainly sweet. Light thin body.

500 ml bottle, at The Beehive (JDW landside, South terminal, Gatwick). ABV is 5.3%. Golden colour, white head. Aroma of citrussy hops, coriander and orange peel. Medium dry flavour with the same elements. Not very bitter though.

Can @ Hen Orsaf, Aberystwyth. Lighter glowing amber with a thin bubbly head. Its gin influence is evident, and it is a dry one. Behind this it is mild, not so evident hoppy-sweetness.

330 ml can. Pours with an almost clear, amber color and a very nice off-whte head. Nose is slightly malty with a slightly citirc nose. Taste is mild, also maltry and citric. easy drinking, not very intense.

330 ml can. Pours with a deep, murky brown color and a nice tan head. Nose is roasted malts, mild coffee and some burnt caramel. Taste is descent hopy, starting with a rich mouthfull bitterness which disaaperas very quickly. medium finish.

Can from Ales by Mail. Pours dark brown with a thick beige head. Aromas of liquorice and coffee up front, some orange. Taste is roast, light pine. Bitter finish.

Can 330ml. @ The Shnoodlepip, London. [ As Brains Craft Brewery Point Break ].Clear medium yellow colour with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, grain, sweet malt. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration, pale malt, sweet malt, grain. Body is medium to light, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20170810] 5-3-5-3-11

Can from ASDA, Bangor, Wales. Dark brown with a head. Its sweet liquorice aroma is potent enough, and there's a similar taste fused with a few roasted ones, but these are certainly in the background.
