12oz bottle. Hazy orange -tan color. Patchy head. Mellow amber malt aroma, not pungent at all. Sort of thin, perhaps sneaking into medium bodied. Watery mouthfeel with some nice lager yeast notes. The pungent, fruity amber malt comes out more as it warms. Doughy and easy, just not that impressive.

12oz bottle. Hazy thin yellow-white color. Patchy, soapy head. Mellow inoffensive golden malt aroma. Clean mouthfeel, very refreshing. Mild malt sweetness and a nice crisp hop balance. Light bodied, but enjoyable enough for what it is. Not really a traditional lager in my opinion, more like an improved upon macro lager taste. Not so exciting but mellow and easy.

Sampled from a 12.7 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark brown color with a huge beige head that lingered forever and produced great lacing. The aroma was wood, vanilla and smoke in a odd but interesting mixture. The flavor was strong caramel and vanilla with undertones of toasted marshmallow, wood, fruity hops, sugar and just a hint of smoke at the end. Long finish with wood, vanilla, caramel and smoke lingering. Fairly full bodied. Better than the sum of it’s parts. Excellent.

Small coarseish beige head. Deep dark red barely translucent body with slow carbonation. Deep malty wild berry and toffee aroma with dried fruit notes. Sweet alcoholic sugary roasty taste with earthy floral notes. Full-bodied. Mild mouthfeel. Dry-acidic faintly astringent roasty malty wild berry aftertaste with dust notes. Not bad, but appears to have some yeast issues. (0.355l bottle, Oliver Twist, Stockholm.)

Served on draft at Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a clear brown color with a thin head. Fair head retention and lacing. Aroma of oak, vanilla, caramel, light fruity notes. Taste is spicy, with notes of mulling spices and citrus, along with appes, soy, tea, vanilla, toasted malts, pear, peaches, other faint fruity notes and caramel. The oak absolutely dominates the taste letting nothing else come through. Thin-medium bodied. This is weird, all off balance and really somewhat offensive.

Pours medium brown color with tan head. Toasted malt aroma with some nuttiness. I’m also getting some vanilla and woody aromas. Moderately sweet fruity flavor with some vanilla, chocolate, wood and alcohol. Medium body with mild carbonation. Probably their best offering but definately not worth the price tag IMO.

Pours deep brown with thin tan head. The aroma is big and bold with robust aged oak, vague hints of sweetness and roast in the background. The taste begins smooth and sweet and then quickly picks up mild vanilla and then a truck load of oak. The oak isn’t the bright fresh cut stuff but rather somewhat aged. I would prefer to try this with less contact time with the wood. This beer has just been swallowed up by this treatment. Still the smoothness really kept it from getting out of control oaky.
