Cloudy reddish copper - minimal head - nose of raisin, caramel, nutmeg, slight booze/rum - medium-sweet flavor, with some bitterness, light tartness, and a touch of oxidation that cut it a bit - bread pudding, raisin, prune, toffee - a bit of yeast/dark bread - lightly bitter and roasty finish - a bit of alcohol heat, but not too much - a decent bock.

(Bottle, Oliver Twist, Stockholm) Reddish brown colour, almost ruby, with a brief foamy head. Malty, toasty nose with notes of caramel, nuts and dark fruit. Malty taste with caramel, dark fruit, toffee, dark bread and slightly spicy hops in the finish. More than medium body with smooth mouthfeel. Some caramel sweetness lingers throughout. Well balanced and tasty beer.

Greatly underrated beer. Pours brown, thin beige head. Aroma, lots of maple goodness, caramel malts. Flavor, easy to drink straight forward nut brown. Lots of maple, giving a nice caramel aspect with hints of roasted malts, coffee mix. Can’t get over the whole maple aspect. Smooth palate, plenty of caramel/maple. Tasty.

Pours cloudy orange, thick white head. Aroma, hoppy, citrus and grapefruit. Flavor, nice citrus bitterness bite, some greapfruit. Mildly spicy with thin bitter citrus finish. Light subtle notes of caramel malts quickly followed by citrus hops.

Pours deep hazy brown, no head. Aroma, of wheat, lemongrass and yeast. Hints of malt. Flavor, malty presence, lemongrass, medium carbonation, sweet wheat palate, some hints of yeast. Wheat / malt more forward followed by lemon finish.

17th June 2008. Surprisingly sour and unsweet ale. Doesn’t taste of maple. Very drinkable if not as sophiticated as a Belgian sour.

Bottle from Beer Geek. Pours copper with a foamy beige head. Floral/citrus aromas over some roasted malt. Medium bodied with mild carbonation. Swear that beyond citrus there’s a touch of strawberry. Not all that bitter but a good deal of hop. Nice drink.

12oz bottle. Deep amber-brown color with a thin but steady beige head. Maple syrup and malt aroma. Big and malty, with a smooth caramel undertone. Very minimal hop balance, just a slight hint in the initial mouthfeel. For the ABV, it does a great job smoothing out and remaining drinkable. Relatively straightforward but still rather unique as you don’t see many big, malt centered Brown Ales like this. Not unlike a Doppelbock in it’s depth, but without the funky pungent yeast tones. Quite nice and mellow.

This nut brown poured a deep brown colour with a smooth tan coloured head. To the nose there are scents of malt, maple, molassass and hopps. First taste is smooth but watery. Maple flavours very prodominant. Additional favours of malt and caramel. Finnish is sweet and maly with maple flavours lingering into the palate. Still too watery but not bad.
