Description

330ml bottle. Hazy, bright, yellow-ish golden colour with huge, frothy, mostly lasting, moderately lacing, snow-white head. Wheaty and fruity aroma with hints of apricot, unripe apricot, spicy hints of coriander, white pepper and wasabi, a touch of ginger. Taste is slightly peppery spicy, minimally tangy, hints of coriander, white pepper, wasabi, zesty hints of orange, kumquat, ginger overtones. Quite dry, spicy, hardly fruity, almost no residual sweetness.

Old school witbier made with oatmeal and named after a statue of a horse on the Lennik marketsquare, sampled at Gents Bierfestival. Inches thick, foamy, towering, egg-white, cobweb-lacing head over a cloudy yellow-straw blonde beer with vague peachy tinge. Aroma of banana peel, fried apple, dough, anise, pear, chewing gum. Fruity-estery onset, bubblegummy isoamylacetate, pear and pineapple accents, restrainedly sweetish with sourish edge, very harsh overcarbonation, numbing (unsurprising seen the over-the-top head formation); bready, cereally, slick malt base, oatmeal softness is clear enough but everything soon bathes in an ethereal, anise-like spiciness paired with citrus peel notes (curaçao) and a dash of mild floral hop bitterness. Underneath this all, an ongoing, dim but clear sourishness runs, more so than average for the style. Overly anise-spiced for me personally and overcarbonated, but otherwise enjoyable and interesting.

Thanks! Sampled 330 ml. bottle @ Kraddel's 10K Madness. Kraddel has made in the past several homebrew with ideas that led to this beer, it is on paper an interesting experiment but not something that is overly enjoyable but I get him having this beer made. Black, solid mocha head. Nose is weird plastic syrup, chocolate, malt syrup,… Taste is this overly plastic, malt syrup with roots, one note and not much else than this plastic malt syrup, too thick in every way & hard to drink. Music: I have heard Dylan hyping Infected Rain before but I don’t quite get them but I don’t get most of the bands he likes :) PS: lol at secret spices..........

Small yellow-tan head over black beer. Rosewater, frangipane, treacle, molasses. Slightly drier in the taste, ashes, but yet toffee, treacle, roaste. Sweet, but gradually some vinous notes. Quite slick to viscous, medium carbonation. Alcohol is not obvious. The nose is less than inviting, thankfully the following is better. Still, IMO this is not really a great beer.

Bottle at Kraddel's 10K Madness, congrats Dylan! Pun on Infected Rain - Me Against You. Dark brown color with beige head. Aroma is chocolate, molasses, Belgian yeasts. Taste is molasses, malt syrup. Thick oily mouthfeel with low carbonation. Damn, very overdone, a very thick Quadrupel - I don't get the New England part.

This beer was made for the event surrounding my 10.000th review. This is one out of ten beers made for the event. The idea was to trigger Vrijstaat Vanmol to make something else than the priorly released blonde beers. I was curious, since they aren't specifically set on one style, if they would brew something I came up with randomly. I asked for a quad with very low bitterness, but with some hoparoma. It should not be boring, sweet, or bland. As we were brewing the beer, the wort came out at 32°p, leading us to decide NOT to add any sugar. The result is this beast of a beer. This very limited beer is named after the song ' Me Against You' by Infected Rain, but will see a bigger release under the name '32 Plato' after the event. Pours nearly black, good tanned, stable, creamy head. Smell is rich, dark malts, autumn leaves, bit roasty, toffee, caramel, dried dark fruits. Taste is super-thick and chewy, mild alcohol heat, toffee, caramel, bit roasty malts, mild phenolic-like spicy notes, tad sweet, not as much sweetness as anticipated. very complex, and surpsisingly drinkable for this body and thickness. I aimed to be surprised by vanmol, asking for something so far away from the beers they previously released. And boy did I choose well ! A very big thnx to these brewers for joining forces on this one!
