12 ounce bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a clear apple juice color with a thin head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of pale malts and leafy, floral hop notes. Fairly faint. The taste is toasted malts, caramel and bitter, floral hoppy notes. Medium bodied. 5/20/10

This beer pours an amber-copper color with a medium and somewhat fluffy white head that recedes steadily. Sticky rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of oak and vanilla plus some hops. Medium body with flavors of bourbon-infused malt, vanilla and hops. Some fruity notes as well. The finish is malty with a slightly boozy aftertaste. Above average overall.

Bottle. Clear amber body with orange highlights. Frothy, off-white head. Strong hop aroma of pine, citrus and grapefruit. Notes of caramel and earthiness. The flavor is lightly to moderately bitter and lightly to moderately sweet. It finishes moderately to heavily bitter and lightly sweet. Medium body, thick texture and average carbonation. The alcohol comes through in the finish, but is more muted than you’d think it would be considering it is 8%. The aroma is in double IPA territory, but without much of a malt backbone. The caramel is more noticable in the taste, but is easily overwhelmed by the thick, chewy hops that leave a slight taste of earthy, dried plants and an impression that the beer is rough around the edges.

A light tan head forms over this opaque black bodied brew. The aroma is one of light roast mats. Just a touch of bitterness in the flavor along with the expected roast malt flavors. Smooth, but it could be a bit creamier.

Big fancy bottle. Pours a fairly clear gold color (second glass from the bottle is very cloudy, with tons of floaties, however) with a very large fizzy white head that dies down pretty slowly and leaves lots of suds on the sides of the glass. Aromas are sweet and spicy... Lots of honey and dough, a bit oi pear and apple fruitiness and cloves to balance it out. Flavor is very similar, but borders on a little too robust (especially the stinging alcohol). This is big, sweet and very assertive.

Bottle. Pours a lovely orange with a whitish head that sticks dies down, but leaves a film on the surface that doesn’t go away. Aromas are decent, but kind of weak... lots of sweet malt (honey, dough and caramel), but flavor is glorious. Sweet malts up front give way to a wonderful hops medley of pine, citrus and that tropical fruit. This is the best IPA I have had in quite some time...

Aroma: The nose on this one is citrus fruits (grapefruit/pineapple) and floral notes
Appearance: The pour was a clear orange color with a small head on cask
Flavor: The taste is medium sweet and medium bitter, well balanced
Palate: The body is medium-full and the alcohol seems to be well-hidden
Overall Impression: This was a pretty good IPA. I liked it quite a bit. I'm rather surprised that it is 8%, as the booze were pretty much non-existent. Almost tasted like a hopped up version of a British style IPA, if that makes any sense.

@PilsnerPeters Thanks willblake-750ml bottle-pours a foamy light tan head and cloudy/milky yellow color. Aroma is sweet light malt, chamomile, yeast. Taste is sweet light malt, chamomile, yeast. OK effervescence.

Sample at Bigelo’s Bistro in Edwardsville, IL. Pours a clear golden color with a compact and thin off-white head. Spotty lacing. Grainy malt and grass in the nose. Light body with a rather soft mouthfeel. Flavors of sweet malt and fruits, mild hops and grain. The finish is short with a grassy hops aftertaste. Just average overall.

Bready malt and mild hops in the nose. Light and clean body with flavors of biscuity malt, grain, hops and some fruit. The finish is malty with a short mildly hopped aftertaste. Average overall.
