bottle from JK O’Donnell’s - At 8% it should probably be listed as an IIPA. I’m sure others have said that as well. Anyway, it pours hazy copper and has a big grapefruit hops aroma. This medium to full bodied brew features loads of citrus accented hops and good malt backing. It leads into the expected long bitter finish of this style. Crisp and tasty. Very good.

Bottle. Brown with a small tan head. Aroma was predominantly coffee. Flavor was coffee, earthy / dirt with a light malt finish. Medium body and a slight carbonated tingle. Just and average drinkable stout, but nothing special.

75 cl bottle courtesy of Greg at Churchkey, shared with Renata, Fabio and Alession at Birrificio Valscura in Sarone de Caneva, Italy. Dark brownish maroon color, small beige head, scant lacing. Aroma of bourbon, cocoa, subtle smoke. Taste has burnt espresso, bitter cocoa, vanilla, whisky apparent mid way and in the finish. Good character and complexity. Well reviewed by all.

draft sample at Indiana winterfest - Pours hazy copper-orange and smells of grapefruit and earthy hops. The ample hops give it a moderately bitter (or more) flavor and there’s a slight hint of spice. Medium bodied and tasty though to me the barrel isn’t really coming through.

75 cl bottle, courtesy of Greg at Churchkey, shared with Markus and Enrico in Monghidoro, to facilitate research impossible. Cloudy yellow color, large white cocoa cola style head that settles quickly to leave solid lacing. Aroma of aprioct, grapefruit and bread. Very nice malt profile, slight edge of sourness. Medium body. Good character, but high carbonation interferes somewhat.

2008 bottle, 75 cl, courtesy of Greg at Churchkey. Shared with SHIG in Aviano, Italy, probably the first Schlafly beer to appear in Italy. Chestnut brown color, large beige head, great lacing. Aroma is bourbon, smoke, vanilla, caramel and wood. Taste is very malty, lots of whisky. Good complexity and character.

Bottle. Pours a nice amber with a little bit of a head that dies to a thin film quickly. Aromas are sweet apple juice concentrate, oak, a little peat and earth and booze. Flavor is pretty sugary... lots of apple juice concentrate, maple syrup, a bit of a creaminess to it, and a bit of peat/oak in the late, late finish. Decent, but pretty unintriguing

12 oz bottle. Light orange color, thin white head. Aroma is light wheat, citrus. Flavor is smooth, creamy, nice. Enjoyable.

Pour is a copper with a small white head. Aroma is of fresh citrus hops. Flavor is again loads of fresh citrus hops. Every sip is another blast of fresh hops. I can’t wait till this comes out in bottles. I know its brewed in stl where I live but this is the freshest tasting IPA I have ever had.

Bottle. Copper color. Amber malt, yeasty aroma with hops. Nice malt flavor with lots of fruit. Amber roasting, a bit of citrus, rather sweet and earthy. Slightly like a biere de garde. The hops come on later. Dry, hoppy, long finish. Pretty good, but not pale at all, but very much like an Amber.
