bottle - Pours very dark brown with a one finger, light tan, lingering head. The aroma is of coffee and roast malt as expected. It tastes of coffee and malt with roast bitterness and oatmeal. It’s pretty light for a stout. It’s alright.

Sample at The Royale in St. Louis as part of "The Funk" Tuesday beer tasting. This beer pours a clear amber color with a medium thick foamy light beige head that diminishes slowly. Sticky top ring of lacing with spots underneath. Piney hops aroma with some malt notes. Medium body with a moderately bitter piney hops taste along with flavors of caramel malt and grapefruit. The finish is hoppy with a citrus aftertaste. Above average overall.

Capped 750 from Oak Tree. Pours clear copper with a foamy yellowy off-white head. Heavy malt aroma with some fruity hop. It has the type of smell good quads share. Medium plus body with frothy carbonation. Flavor is smooth heavy malt, heat, fruit and/or fruity hop. Not sure whether the heat is bothersome or an enhancement. It tastes very good.

Pours deep gold into a trappist glass. Bright white head with excellent retention recedes leaving spotted sheets. Melon and candi aromas. Medium to full bodied with sweet candi upfront turning dry and hot in the lasting hay finish.

Slightly cloudy copper coloured body with a very thin tan head and some larger bubbles rising from the bottom & sides. Aroma of fresh hops, grass, malt, metal, yeast and a touch of citrus sweetness - Nice! Medium-bodied; Assertive hops up front fade down nicely to a pleasant and complex maltiness, hop bitterness, and potent syrupy sweetness with hints of spice, citrus and pine. Aftertaste is relatively complex, with the sweetness and hops battling out for strongest flavour. Overall, a very nice and complex ipa - one that shows more grassy and citrus characteristics than most, but still enough hop bitterness for people to appreciate! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Chevy Chase Wine & Spirits in Washington DC on 13-May-2010, sampled two months later at home in Washington on 13-July-2010.

750ml bottle pours a clear, caramel orange with a creamy white head. Nose is candy sugar, yeast, Belgian yeast but... that’s it. Flavor is sweet, caramel, candied orange peel, candy sugar. Finish is full bodied and sweet. Not bad, but far from great.

Bottle 750ml.Clear dark red brown color with a average to large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, moderate bread, moderate alcohol - bourbon. Flavor is heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, bourbon. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is moderate alcoholic. [20100630]

On tap at Bottleworks. Pours a slightly brownish straw color... fairly opaque with a little bit of head. Aromas are cloves and dusty wheat. Flavor is very nice... it’s a fairly spicy wheat, with quite a heavy dose of cloves and an almost bubble gum sweetness to it. I really enjoyed this, as a slightly darker example of the style.

Bottle from a trade with phaleslu. Bottled on 6/8/10. Pours clear orange copper color with off white head. Grapefruit rind aroma. Bitter grapefruit flavor with some sweet caramel. Chewy body with moderate carbonation. Seems more like a DIPA to me. Thanks Peter.

(Bottle, 0.75 l - 2007 vintage, at One Pint Pub) Poured almost black and clear. Head was medium sized and light brown. Aroma contained oak, liquorice, vanilla and alcohol. Palate was full bodied, warming and dry with medium carbonation. Flavours were roastedness, oak, sweetness, liquorice, little bit of ash, vanilla and bitterness. Aftertaste was woody and roasty.
