Bottle: Clear pour of dark gold and amber with a sizeable white head and nice lacing. Nose is light of fruitiness and earthy tones. The fruit flavor comes out a bit more in the taste with a blend of apple, grape, and citrus. A little hops presence and some light earthiness. Pleasant.

Hazy golden coloured body with a nice super dense white head. Aroma of strong yeast and wheat with a little coriander seed and a lot of floral aromas. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong wheat and yeast taste with some sweetness lingering further behind. Aftertaste shows a lot of character - yeast and spice show through very well. Overall, a damn good tripel, strong in flavour, yet still somewhat light enough to drink during the summer. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Seattle, Washington on 06 July 07.

Bomber. Aromas of coffee, anise and dark fruit. Opaque black/brown color with a tan head that went away with minimal lacing. Thin to medium bodied. Smooth. Moderately carbonated - no bite. Coffee, hint of anise, hop bitter. Starts with sweet toast, moves on to a not really dry finish with coffee and bitter. It’s a great experience.

Draft, at the Seattle Brew Pub. Pour is orange gold with a smallish white head. Aroma is hop and a little bit of chemical funkiness. Taste is the bright floral hops, but strong chemical egg and popcorn was there too - probably diacytel. This was not terribly enjoyable.

Draught, Capitol Hill
Very dark brown with a thick nitro head. Tartness and cheap coffee on the nose. Light and sweet flavour, just a very mild roastiness. A hint of tartness late. A really quick, knock ’em out style. It’s not that they didn’t do a good Guinness, it’s just that when you aim low it doesn’t mean much when you succeed.

Draught, Capitol Hill
Cloudy dark amber. Not much head. Fruity aroma (banana, with hints of smoke). Whoa - really pithy hop bitterness. Fluffy body (that’s good malts) but kind of fizzy (and bad carbo). Interesting - a way overhopped weizen - but the components aren’t working all that well together. The grapefruity bitterness is doing its own thing, the sweet banana weizen is doing its own thing, but they aren’t coming together and the beer suffers as a result.

2010: Hazy straw-amber with a thin head. Bubbly. Rich herbal, citrusy brew. Moderate bitterness. Smells like sticking your head in a bag of hops. Nice, easy-drinking hop juice with just enough malt balance. BUT, as it warms a little bit of butter comes out, ruining the whole thing.

2007: Hazy amber with low head. Very woody nose - the centennial signature. Toasty, lightly chocolatey malts and lots of bitterness. Woody, lightly citric hop character. Assertive but balanced IPA that harkens to the mid 90s and does it really well. 8-3-8-4-16 = 3.9

Aroma of floral (hop?) and malt. Ripe apricot color with a white head that doesn’t immediately film and leaves lace trace. Thin to medium body. Strong hint of jasmine flavor (kind of like the tea). A real kick in the mouth. Light fruity sweetness balanced by lots of bitter. Seems like more that 40 IBUs. The finish is nicely balanced sweet and bitter. Incredibly enjoyable.
