Bottle from Inn At Home, Guildford. Malty caramel and hay. Herbs and a veg edge then come through. An opaque medium brown. Creamy off-white head. Surprisingly light - some sweetness followed by maltyness that builds in strength. Light bitter finish. I guess there’s also a house hint of alcohol in the finish. Medium bodied. Slick. Soft carbonation. Muted finish. Hmm, not sure what to make of it. A very polite English Strong Ale, but then it is from Guildford! Drinkable. Enjoyable. Low impact.

On tap at the Craft Rooms, Lincoln. Black colour with a tan head. Aroma smooth milk chocolate, with coffee, and light fruit. Taste isn’t as sweet as some milk stouts, but roasted bitter and fruity. Medium body.

Cask at Egham Beer Fest, 13/04/17. Sweet malty aroma. Bright amber. Thin white head. Light sweet. Caramel. A touch of malts/umami. Light bodied. Slick mouthfeel. Restrained carbonation and a relatively abrupt finish. Refreshing enough but as a whole it insubstantial. Forgotten as soon as the glass has been drained.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Poured a hazy medium amber with a fizzy white head and a few bubbles. The aroma is grainy malt, some fruity hop notes. The flavour is moderate bitter with a light, smooth, fruity, light floral hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with lively carbonation.

Catching up on ratings from GBBF 2016. From cask. Poured golden brown with a small off white head. Hoppy, floral aroma. Medium sweetness, light bitterness. Toward medium bodied. Quite drinkable.

Bottle at home. Bought at Inn At Home, Guildford. Sweet aroma - reminds me of cheap chocolate and mocha. Dark and glossy appearance. Loses a point for the rapid retreat of the beige head. Sweet with a bitter finish - somewhat subdued. Getting malts, coffee berries and some chocolate but not much impact. Smooth bodied. Soft mouthfeel. Dry finish. Goes down well but only the bitter finish has any vigour.
