Description
Brewing in freedom. Young and locally oriented nano brewery. Brewing small batches we developed 20+ delicious beers over the last 4 years. At the end of 2015 we opened up our brewpub 'Café Rad van Wageningen' where we serve our locally produced beers plus some samples of other beers. For non beer drinkers we have a modest list of (good dutch) wines, stronger liquors and many other beverages. Don't forget the crafty pubmeals on friday or saturday. (Local Dutch brewer with description in English; because in the city of Wageningen we have lot's of foreign customers)

375ml bottle. Darkest brown colour with weak ruby shimmer and a layer of tan bubbles on top. BA supported, sweet-ish, caramel malty and minimally wheaty malty aroma, notes of treacle, caramel, a touch of rum, dark chocolate. Taste is sweet-ish, caramel malty, slightly chocolately, dark malty, minimally wheaty malty, notes of treacle, caramel, some dark chocolate, honey, rum. Viscous texture, smooth and soft, minimally cloying palate, fine, soft to flat carbonation. Homogeneous, sweet, malt dominated - a bit unusual, but not bad.

Bottle, directly from brewery. Wow... 100% rye malt. This must have been a dense mash. Made possible by the Meura mash filter of this brewery. Color: Hazy brownish orange, stable off-white head. Aroma: Spicy, citrus fruit, hop. Taste: Dense, smooth mouthfeel. Spicy. tangerine, orange zest. Hints of stone fruit. Moderate to over moderate sweet, over moderate bitterness going to medium at the finish. Dry, spicy and bitter finish. Light boozy hints. Long lasting finish. Full body, just below average carbonation. Not your everyday IPA. Nice one.

Draft at Rad van Wageningen 30 sept, bottle 1 nov. Anniversary beer brewed for 10 years Stadsbrouwerij Wageningen. On tap at the 10 years fest yesterday, having a good time at Rad van Wageningen and didn't bother to take notes then. Today again enjoying this beer, this time from bottle. Color; Very hazy dark orange, off-white head. Very dense. Nice lacing. Aroma: Hoppy, spicy, subtle citrus. Taste: Very dense mouthfeel, creamy, grassy hop, spicy rye and Kveik yeast, subtle fruity notes of orange, citrus fruit. Refreshing. Over moderate going to medium bitterness, moderate to over moderate sweet. Over medium body, just below average carbonation. Very nice anniversary beer. Liquid hoppy rye bread. Unique, brewed with 85% rye malt, made possible by the Meura filter that Stadsbrouwerij Wageningen owns as one of very few Dutch breweries. Well done! On to the next 10 years, Dennis and Stefan!
