Bottle from Loco Liquor in Blairgowrie, Johannesburg
Black color with medium sized brownish head. Light aroma of roasted malt, bread, sesame. Roasted malt flavor, with something strange, burnt vegetables; ordinary bitterness; quite dry, and a bit metallic.
Not very good.

Bottle from Loco Liquor in Blairgowrie, Johannesburg
The color is deep blond and hazy, with small head. It smells of stale bread. Full bodied, not oily like other Strong Lagers are; poor malt flavor, light boozy character, quite bitter, with a funny aftertaste.
Bad.

Very good, dense, off-white head over amberish orange-golden beer (colour of succade). Aromatic hops above all. Seem to get a bit of honey, but that might be suggestion. Perfumey touch, seemingly typical for Michell’s. Lightly sweetish nose. Bitterish-spicy taste. Specific flavour as from fresh (maybe just ’blanched’) carrots. Bit of mannah, pharmaceutical, warming up turning to coriander. Grainy, as something out of a organic foodshop. Bit of astringency, seemingly linked to the carrotflavour. Spritzy; light to meidum bodied. Not really enjoyable. Rather clashing flavours, achieving no balance. Thanks to M & L!

Very good, rather dense off-white head, shards of lace remaining over pale yellow-golden beer, well-carbonated. Aromatic hops (from the Bosun’s) dominating, but with a markedly reinforced citrus streak. Unripe passion fruit - all very logical. Sweetish, perfumey-aromatic flavour, quite fruity, but duller than its two components. Diluted tinned peachjuice. Ever so slightly bitterish hint retronasal, hoppy. Light body, very light slickness, very carbonated adding to the acidity. I prefer its constituents... not really a surprise there... Many thanks to M & L, mastermixers!

Good, bit fluffy snowwhite head over well-carbonated pale yellow beer. Garden herbs & weeds, ever so slightly soapy, faintly perfumey. Straw, and an inconceivable hint at Brett (or lactobacillus, really...). Sourish, again wild yeast streak, even more pronounced than in the nose (less Bretty). Very citrussy, also wheat-like, making it taste more like a good, unspiced witbier than as a lager. Very spritzy, on the verge of fizzy. Sourish citrusnotes going on at length into the aftertaste, with some more bitterish lemonpeel. Very light body. I don’t know how to classify this one. I seriously doubt this is really bottom fermented, but as to what it is instead...?? Thanks to M & L!

Medium, slightly yellowish head over well-carbonated orange-golden beer. Aromatic hops, bit of lychee, citrus, faintly grassy. Nice, but smelling more like an APA than as a British bitter. Bitterish hoppy, again aromatic flavours. Ever so slighlty metallic finish. Weeds, citrus, exotic fruit. Spritzy carbonation; light body, but not empty, certainly for its 3.6%. Surprising is the word. Easily the best Mitchell’s tried so far, despite its modest ABV, and a sample that could not have been in peak condition. Many thanks to M & L!
