Description
With the creation of Village brewery De Meester we want to re-establish the tradition of artisan brewing in Kuurne. Our beers are brewed solely according to the traditional brewing processes, with the greatest care and only with natural raw materials. For our beers, we use hop flowers from Poperinge exclusively and refrain for using nor colour pigments, nor foam improvers, nor artificial seasonings. The result of this traditional work methods are the beers of Village brewery De Meester. Beers with character, interwoven with aromas from the different local hops.

Thanks for sharing! Sampled 750 ml. bottle @ Kerstbierfestival 2017. Blackish amber, tanned head. Nose is harsh cloying syrup, pain chemical,… Thick cloying raw alcoholic syrup, chemical, paint, prune,… Raw harsh cloying sludge, not my thing & that ignoring the fact that this was meant to be a Black IPA which is really not what this beer is.

Thanks for sharing! Sampled 750 ml. bottle @ Kerstbierfestival 2017. Amber orange syrup. Nose is harsh varnish, paint, raw chemical boozy with thick Christmas spice. Taste is raw BE cloying spices, too sweet, caramel & with raw varnish, booze edge,… Cloying hard to drink,… Another of these kind of BE Christmas beer. Earlier Rating: 12/18/2016 Total Score: 3.1[Thank you for sharing!][750 ml. bottle sampled @ O.B.E.R. Kerstbierfestival 2016] Dark brown amber, small tanned head. Nose is boozy, overly sweet, heavy gravy syrup, umami malt syrup. Taste is basic flat gravy overly Belgian with far too heavy yeast, all kinds of weird raw fermentation notes, overly alcoholic heavy on messy gravy. Body is thin umami & gravy. Messy, unpleasant overly gravy forward. Not a fan.

Pours rather clear, dark caramelly brown. No head. Smell is thick, unfresh dark malts. Taste is sharp, tad sweet, mildly phenolic. Dry ending, bit sugary. Rather high carbo. Medium mf. Earlier Rating: 12/25/2016 Total Score: 3.3At Kerstbierfestival 2016 , thnx for sharing everyone ! Pours clear, very dark brown. small white head. Smell is spiced, bit sweet. Taste is sharp, bit bitter, spiced. Sweet. Bit too sweet for me. Spiced. seems rather simple as I mostly get the sweetness and spices, no real depth or balance.

Bottle from Harris Teeter in Alexandria, VA.Medium brown in colour, with a slight, off-white, head. Toasty malts, slight touch of berry fruit, hint of chocolate, leading to a bitter finish. Ok.

12 oz. bottle. Pours clear amber with an off-white head. Aroma of malt, bread, nuts. Some fruitiness. Taste follows nose. Has some burnt notes, maybe some spruce. Caramel and spices. Not great, but probably one of Abita's better efforts.

F: big, light tan, good retention. C: deep gold, hazy, yeasty debris. A: malty, light citrus, grapefruits, orange. T: malty backbone, strong long lasting bitterness, bit phenolic, grapefruits, if you like it bitter then very nice, for such low ABV really enjoyable, medium body and carbonation, sample @ Winters Bier Festival 2017 in Waregem.

At Winter Beer Fest 2017, Waregem. Shared with Anke!
Hazy black with a lasting, beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, ripe banana, coffee, caramel and hops. It tastes medium malty & caramel-like sweet and light roasted bitter; slightly alcoholic finish. Medium to full body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. Very good; palate could have been stronger.
