Description
Pretty Things Beer & Ale Project began on a shoestring budget in 2008. We exist to allow 20 year professional brewer Dann Paquette to make an honest living while giving his imagination free reign. We brew our beers in other people's breweries because we can't afford our own. We enjoy the up-at-dawn lifestyle and the freedom to brew beers of our own imagining. We brew all our beers ourselves: Dann brews and formulates, Martha mills in. We dream up our beers together, inspired by Europe, by history, and by BEER and all it can be. We are based in Somerville, but brew mostly in Westport, MA, hence the early mornings. Cheers!

22oz bomber. Pale yellow-tan body, filtered. Respectable, fluffy, glass lacing head, a little uneven. A pretty enjoyable, classical saison. The hops are a little, and at almost 9 months after the bottling date, a little faded. Either way a pretty respectably made example of the style, Pleasant mouthfeel.

Bottle at level 42 (thanks to L-Dogg). It pours darkest brown / black with a small, bubbly beige head. The aroma is rich roasted malts upfront, rich smoke, umami, musty, honey glazed ham and some cocoa. The taste is rich roasted malt, sweet cocoa, liquorice, smoked maltage, some meatiness, honey glazed ham and good hit of alcohol heat through the finish. Full body, soft carbonation and sticky mouth-feel. I am not sure on the balance with the heat and smoked character. Interesting, but perhaps only in small amounts.

Bottle shared at the pre GBBF chriso’s tasting day 1 06/08/2016. Many thanks to Leighton for this one. Mostly clear reddy mahogany brown coloured pour with a small tan head. Aroma is tangy nutty malts, brown bready malts, raisin. Flavour is composed of medium sweet tangy nutty malts with a little vanilla, oak, dried fruits. Palate is medium sweet, medium bodied, moderate carbonation. Decent complexity.

Bottle shared at the chriso and Ruth pre GBBF Shindig 2016 - London. Day 1. Pours clear brown with a frothy, off-white head. The nose holds caramel, brown bread, light oxidation. Medium sweet flavour with notes of toasted bread, caramel, light bitterness. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Finishes with light dryness, more toasted brown bread, burnt toffee. Great stuff for the style.
