Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 3/3/2015. Clear amber in colour, with a white head. Sweetish, cereal malt aroma. Flavour was also sweet, with some toffee up front, followed by a hint of honey and hedgerow fruits. Finish was gentle. Fine.

2015 version, served cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 5/3/2015. Deep brown in colour, with a frothy, off-white, head. Sweetish, malty brew, with a touch of berry fruits, hedgerow hops and gently bitter finish. Fine.

Cask (handpump) @ GBBF 2013, Great British Beer Festival, London Olympia, Hammersmith Road, London, England W14 8UX. [ As Loch Ness Hoppy Ness ].Clear medium yellow orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, moderate to heavy hoppy, orange - citrus, pine, hop fruit, hop oil notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and moderate to heavy bitter with a long duration, hop fruit, hop oil, hoppy, fruity, dry. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20130814]

Cask at Six Deg North. It pours clear gold with a thick foamy white head. The nose is fresh, doughy, cereal, cracker and a touch of white grape. The taste is smooth, soft, bready malts, grassy, florals, straw and light spice with a dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Well-rounded and quaffable. Solid golden.

Keg at Six Degrees North. It pours clear deep brown with a decent light tan head. The nose is toasty brown, earth, wood, caramel, pepper and dried fruits. The taste is crisp, bitter-sweet, toasty brown bread, dark fruits, raisin, caramel and fruit cake with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Has a great drinkability to it. Smooth and well balanced.

Bottle shared at the ’Beers of London’ Tasting MkII, Bespin Cloud City - Hyde Park zone, thanks to Paulo 11/02/15. Very lightly hazed amber with a moderate beige head. Nose is big on peat, bandaid, toffee, cardboard twinge. Taste comprises sweet lickings, toffee, toasted brown sugar, big peaty twang. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Not a great balance to this one, sweet and smoke mish mash, pass.

Bottle shared at the ’Beers of London’ Tasting MkII, Bespin Cloud City - Hyde Park zone, thanks to Paulo 11/02/15. Clear amber with moderate off white spotting. Nose is rich fruit, spice, candied fruit peel, bitter orange, mineral notes, glaced cherrues, wooded sherry whisper. Taste comprises vanilla, oak, cherry skins, dark fruit notes. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, semi drying close. Ok.

Bitterish wood and caramel. A slightly off putting rubber note on the back end. Dry finish. Woody bitter linger. Interesting.

Bottle. Beer Central, Sheffield. Clear gold. Big, bubbly, messy, sticky, white head. Buttery malts. Some lemon. Taste is sweet and buttery. Some grassy bitterness. Palate is all of that. Nah. Hard work, buttery and bitter. There’s nothing in between.
