Cask at the Catherine Wheel (JDW), Henley. Amber with a tight cream head; sweet biscuity malt aroma; soft in the mouth with a thick, soupy, grainy body, some honey for sweetness and orangely fruit; with a gentle rising bitterness, part German hop, part grapefruit. Really satisfying, almost a meal in a glass.

Cask at The Parcel Yard. Pours copper with a creamy beige head. Light flora aroma. Med body. Flavort is spice andmalt. Surprisingly flavorful. Then floral and citrus seem to come forth.

Hamilton Hall Spoons. Almost clear pale gold beer, little white head. Palate is light, softish and with just modest carbonation. Brief sweet floral note followed by sweet citrus, mostly orange but a whisper of lemon. Mild minerals. Finishes neutral. Tasty beer, not particularly Pils like though.

Cask at the Hamilton Hall, JDW - London. Pours perfectly clear gold with a slight, white cream head. Toasted grains in the nose, some bread. Light sweet flavor with dry, dirty grains, some earth, toasted grass. Light bodied withfine carbonation. Lightly bitter to finish with more dry, toasted grains, mild sweetness, some dry grass, dirt. Not bad, but boring.

Bright amber in colour with a frothy head. Has an ale texture but a slight lager sweetness and malt aroma. It’s lager qualities are probably most apparent in its aftertaste.

Bottle: Pours black with a tall, oatmeal head. Aroma is cola, chocolate, a hint of smoke. Taste is slightly bitter chocolate...dark fruit. Roasty and creamy. Slightly light, but very nice.

Clear 500ml bottle: third beer of a random tasting even on 15 Mar 2013. Poured into an ’Old Speckled Hen’ badged pint vase shaped glass (at home). Pleasant light amber/golden blonde in colour with a small and swiftly fading white head of popping bubbles: carbonisation rising through the clear body adding to the surface fizz. Malts rule this brew although the hops do give it a sharp edge and bitterness. The aroma was of baked fruit biscuits and slightly woody. The taste followed the same way but as mentioned sharper and quite bitter, especially as the mouth dries. The beer lacks punch and body depth to be honest: OK but not enough ’umph’ to make me want another.

bottle - Pours red and is filled with big suspended yeast particles. There’s minimal head. The aroma is heavy on the caramel. It tastes of sweet caramel malt and a touch of hops bitterness. Easy drinking and smooth on the palate, it’s an okay if uninspired brew.

Cask from The Old Vic, Preston. Amber brown, poured with a cream head. No carbonation and little aroma. Not great, but does the job it intends to do - a low strength session bitter.
