Cloudy medium amber colour, large frothy off-white head, good retention and lacing. Aroma fruity, pale malts, floral touch. Taste is medium sweet and bitter, malty, fruity, hoppy, with long duration, grassy bittersweet finish. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation, indeed different, a pleasant bitter lager.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; clear copper pour with a big magnolia head, aroma has caramel and some red fruits, taste has pine, sweet caramel, tangerine, rich tea biscuit, red berries, pleasant enough.

[ As Hammerton Baron H ].Clear dark brown color with a average to large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, dark malt, moderate to heavy hoppy, citrus, grapefruit. Flavor is moderate sweet and moderate to heavy bitter with a average to long duration, grapefruit, citrus, licorice, dark malt, licorice wood, light roasted. Bottle at home in London - picked up at BottleDog. Well, it’s massively over-carbonated. Pours unclear gold with a monstrous, fluffy white head. The nose holds a bit of grapefruit, pine needles, wheat, slight yeast, tangerine, general citrus rind. Light-medium sweet flavour with a sturdy kick of rindy bitterness, slight oily pine, dry wheat bread, subtle esters, yeast. Light bodied with lively carbontation. Somewhat dry on the finish, with more rindy and piney bitterness, dry wheat, hefe yeast, tangerine, pithy grapefruit, a little grass. Pretty good stuff overall.

330ml bottle from Beers of Europe: drank at home on 18th Jan 16, poured into a ’Chimay’ badged chalice. Looked good, huge foaming head above a clear amber body, plenty of carbonation bubbles rising through the said body. Bitter, piny hops in the nose, taste on the same wave length, bitter and piny. On par with some of the US West Coast IPA’s I have come across: not a big fan, but I can see the fascination of the style even if it’s a bit too ’over the top’ for my palate. Over hopped and bitter beers do not really suit my profile: this is a decent beer though and I have scored it accordingly.

*** Disclaimer this is a deliberated unfair rating, but i feel aggreived so here goes *** Bought this bottle from BottleDog about 2 weeks ago. When i opened the bottle, no hiss of escaping carbonation, look down and part of the lip of the bottle was missing so the cap hadn’t worked. Nasty sharp edge on the top of the bottle, which could caused some damage, not to mention the missing sharp of glass, is that in the beer now? The beer is obviously reunied but ive decided to capture my hatred in a rating. Here goes. A complete lifeless murky dark orange amber with no head. Aroma is tart and spicy cheap vinegar, some granny smith apple and bruised fruit. Meaty brothand fish innards with some sticky sugars on the nose as well. Flavour is composed of Really sharp tangy vinegar,bitter lemon, fish and chips, bitter tingling vinegar at the back of the throat. Palate is sweet and sour and lifeless, slightly burning the throat. Terrible beer. Undrinkable. I hope to get to try an unspoiled sample so that i can amend this 11121 Bottle at home from the rot box. ANot sure where i got this from. A mostly clear amber red coloured pour with a lasting beige cap. Aroma is cola cubes, pine, sticky sugar, some age, nutty malts, Flavour is composed of semi sweet malts, butterscotch, nutty, light age, light tangy, woody notes. Bit meh. Palate is semi sweet, light tang, highish frothy carbonation. 645312 3.0 Not updating my rating, because fuck you.
