Description
Hammerton Brewery is a microbrewery based in Islington brewing small batch beers with the aim to bring great tasting beer back to the borough and also re-establish the Hammerton Brewery name in London.

Hammerton Brewery originally began brewing in London in 1868. Sadly it ceased to brew in the late 1950s and was later demolished. In 2014, a member of the Hammerton family decided to resurrect the family name in brewing. It also brings brewing back to Islington, a London borough with a great beer making heritage.

Half pint poured from cask at The Swan in Bloomsbury. Hazy apricot coloured body. Film-type layer blanketing the upper level of the glass. Dusty hops on the nose. Sappy fruity taste, herbal hops, pale malts, and a rounded pine bitterness towards the ending. Well balanced. Good drinking (London 11.07.2015).

Bottle from Cornelius. Hazy golden body with a thick white head. No visible carbonation. Good lacing. Aroma of lime, grass, lemon and Rich Tea. Flavour of grassy hops and pale malt. Medium body with a watery, slightly oily texture. On the label, I’d prefer the hop types to be listed rather than just saying ’fruity and aromatic hops from around the world’. This beer just feels a bit empty.
