Description
In 1981, Peter Mauldon, the great grandson of Anna Maria decided to re-establish the family tradition and start a brewery in Sudbury once again. Peter had been too young to be involved in the original family business and had previously pursued a career with Messrs. Watney where he progressed to Head Brewer at the company’s large Mortlake Brewery.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol 18/12/2013. Copper coloured with a slight white head. orange peel, some stone fruits, caramel and a hint of nuttiness, before a moderately bitter finish. Fine.

Cask at JDW Charlie Hall; amber/red pour with an off white head, sweet malts aroma, malt taste with some hop bitterness and a hint of fruit.

Cask at the St. Albans Beer Festival 2013. Poured a light amber colour, slightly hazy and with a thin white head. Aroma of sweet fruit, floral hop and slightly stale malt. Initial flavours are malt heavy with caramel sweetness and some grass. Finish is dry grain, pine and a light metallic edge.

Cask at Ealing. Frothy off-white good mostly deminishing head. Black colour. Moderate malty and light hoppy aroma. Moderate bitter flavor. Average moderate bitter finish. Oily palate.

Amber coloured ale with a thick head. It has a malt aroma with hops in its finish.

Cask. Amber colour, small off-white head. Aroma is crystal an caramel malts along with some berries, wood and mild floral notes Flavour is very similar with a nice bitterness to finish it off. Not sure what makes it any Christmas at all...

Cask at the White Swan, Solihull. Poured a clear medium amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is dry malt leading to a medium to weak bitter flavour, with a smooth hoppy malt palate and lingering bitterness in the finish. Serve on the cool side for a fine session bitter.

Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell. Golden amber with a dense cream head; biscuity aroma with a touch of lemon; grainy body with some sweet lemony citrus; and a pleasant light bitternes to finish.

Amber, clear, thin white head, some lacing
Aroma - light fruity hops, soft caramel malts
Taste of soft zesty hops, light caramel malt, some slightly tart fruits, dab of cereal malts
Palate - Medium body, quite oily, fairly bitter bit tangy palate. Finish of soft bitter hops with some digestive biscuit malt coming through, bit dry, fairly bitter bit zesty linger, cleans well off palate
Overall - Pretty quaffable, quite decent, good condition
