Established in 1988
Brewing home-brewed ales until 1957 when the brewery closed. After 30 years lapse the grandson John Hughes lovingly restored the brewery in 1987, keeping the traditional art of brewing alive.

Cask at Gloucester Beer Festival. Dark ruby brown, no head. Malty aroma, dried fruits. Taste is sweet, dried fruits, caramel, toffee, light roast, gentle bitterness. Light-medium body, very low carbonation.

On cask at The Wellington in Birmingham. Pours dark ruby brown with a lasting beige head. Aroma: sweet malts, dark fruits, dried fruits. Taste: moderate sweet, light bitter, with dark fruits, prunes, figs, caramel, toffee. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, sweetish nutty finish. Good stuff, it's seen as a classic for a reason

Cask @ The Salmon, Leicester. Hazy dark brown with a lasting beige head. Aroma is sweet, malty, roasted malt and chocolate. Flavor is quite sweet and light bitter. Sweet and roasted light bitter finish. 260717

Cask @ The Salmon (Black country ales), Leicester. Nice creamy head with excelkent duration. Color is dark brown. Aroma and taste are caramel, toffee, hops, nuts and has a nice sweet finish.

Pours a dark red brown colour with a small creamy beige head. Aroma is dark fruits, some dark malt and hint of chocolate. Taste is rich dark fruits, plum, fig, raisin and dark malt flavours. The finish is mild with a some alcohol warmth at the end.

Cask at Beacon Hotel, 31/05/17. Malty biscuit aroma. Gold. Very thin white head. Light bitter. Herbs, malts, unsure and confused... sure what Im picking up! Light bodied. Watery. Light carbonation. Muted finish. Drinkable.

Cask at Beacon Hotel, 31/05/17. Grassy aroma. Gold. Thinnish bubbly white head. Light bitter. Slightly malty, Light bodied. Watery. Low carbonation. Abrupt finish. Poor show. As bland as bland gets.

Cask at the Beacon Hotel, 31/05/17. A malty/spice/citrus aroma, if low key. Bright gold. Frothy white head. Light bitter. Tangerine and malts. A hint of grapefruit. Light bodied. Watery. Slow carbonation. Short finish. A good drink, if unexciting.
