Cask pint in my local Wetherspoons on 8th Jan 2016. Deep chestnut body with a decent head that gave some impressive lacing: malts rule the brew throughout. Semi-sweet with a dry finish. Didn’t pick up any ’old ale’ style flavours and aromas. Decent enough even if it didn’t feel like an ’old ale’.

Cask at the Hope Tap, JDW - Reading. Pours clear yellow with a dense, creamy white head. Grainy pale bread on the nose, mild lemony tang. Light sweet flavor with notes of husky grain, lemon peel, dough, dirty straw. Light bodied with fine carbonation; so so condition. Lightly astringent in the finish, with more hay, grains, sugary pale bread. Not great.

Gravity cask at the Old Transporter Ale House, Henlow Camp. Honey brown, thin-looking, clear and flat. Light woody aroma. Taste is sweet, floral and fruity but not particularly engaging. Weak and thin body. I just can’t get very excited about this, a pretty boring bitter really.

Cask at the "Southern Ale Adventure" Beer Festival at the Prince of Wales, Farnborough. An amber pour with a loose white head; caramel malt aroma; dry caramel malt taste; with a lingering malty finish. A pleasant light bitter.

Bottle from the brewer’s own stall at the Thame Food Festival. Amber with a thin white head. Caramel and malt up front with a traditional English hop bite following and all the twiggyness that entails. Your standard traditional bitter really.

Bottle from the brewer’s own stall at the Thame Food Festival. Apparently this wsd brewed to commemorate a Midsomer Murders episode of the same name being filmed at the brewery. Golden-amber with a thin white head and a light fizz. Sweetish light caramel with a floral edge. Not much to it, but it’s pleasant enough and easy to drink.

Burnley Beer Festival 2015. Its strength is evident and is hopped with lots of bubblegum sweetness for its flavour.
