Sample at Collaboration Fest on 03/25/2017. Clear orange-amber color with a thin white head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing. Aroma of yeast, fruit, oak and malt. Medium body with flavors of funky yeast, vinous oak, citrus and doughy malt. The finish is funky with a fruit and yeast aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Tulip at the brewery - lightly hazy amber - soapy head - nose of raisin, dark bread, caramelized sugars - creamy texture - deep caramelized malt flavor, bordering a little on burnt sugar flavor - medium bitterness - raisin, dark bread, mild to moderate spiciness - aside from the mild burnt sugar (which subsides as it warms), it’s quite smooth and has a pleasing and appropriate flavor profile for the style.

16 ounce tulip at the brewery - hazy orange beer - nose is bready malt, moderate peppery phenols, light esters, some ginger - flavor is a little heavy on the toasty maltiness than I typically like in the style - kinda bready and heavy, so the yeast character doesn’t pop as much, and there is surprising leafy hop flavor - some white pepper, light fruitiness, some bubblegum esters emerge as it warms - just so heavy on the malt character, and a little husky on the back end.
