Snifter at the brewery - this is indeed interesting - I didn’t think the pear would work with the coffee and dark malt character, but it adds an interesting bright fruitiness that works to bring out the berry character of the malt and fruitier aspects of the coffee beans - a little sweet in the finish, but interesting.

Dark brown with dark amber highlights. Has a lot of molassesy, barbeque saucy sweetness associated with the nose. Sweet, and barrely, with light molasses but this is still an overly light beer for the style.

Hazy light amber. Thin head. Lots of both brett and barrel...can’t lie, it’s what this beer needed. Mellow slightly sweet interpretation with a bretty finish.

Slight haze, pale. Nice fruity (blueberry, salmonberry) nose. Tart...kettle style...ligh fruitiness and really just the lightest salt note. To be fair, I don’t note any tequila/agave character and i’ve had some ridiculous barrel tequila in my day.

Quite dark brown. Slightly fudgey, toffeeish nose. Smells like imp porter to me. Lightish body, nice flavour though. Good chocolate note, light toffee. Not bad porter...ok not Baltic. But good porter.

The basic house saison. Reddish-amber. Thin head. Plasticy malt and phenol nose...meh...sort of heavier body, light herbal hopping, finish has caramelly sweetness and earthy hop bitterness; the plastic phenols are there but more subdued on the palate.

Slightly hazy amber. Thin head. Aroma is quite berryish. Malts are fairly toasty, with delicate fruity yeast/hop character.

At the brewery during GABF week, 2015. Aroma has graham cracker and marsh mellow. Some sweetness with grain. Very minor hop presence.

At the brewery during GABF week, 2015. Immediately in the aroma the heavy roast is prominent, and it is really overdone. A little red wine character, some overripe fruit. Decent beer but the roast is far too heavy, and introduces some flavor of coffee and dark chocolate that doesn’t belong and really takes away from from otherwise would be have been a great effort.

At the brewery during GABF week, 2015. Cloudy, yellow appearance. Some tequila aroma immediately. Salt is there, as it should be. I also taste wheat, banana, just a little. Dry finish. usually I do not like a tequila barrel but they pulled it off.
