Description

We brouwen ons bier volgens de slogan "Beer for Thought".

Pours black with a tan head that soon fades away. Lots of visible floaters. The aroma is used coffee grounds, light chocolate. Taste is sweet up front, but soon makes a sharp sour turn. Finishes sour with strong coffee undertones. Body is medium, and feels oddly light for this style of beer. Overall a flawed offering that makes too many mistakes in too many areas.

Bottle. Color: Ruby to copper, small beige head. Taste: Nice, bit complex fruity mix of medium sweet and medium bitter notes. Raisins. Warming mouthfeel from the alcohol. Medium to full body. Soft carbonation. Very nice beer for some slow sipping on a relaxing evening.

(Draught at Craft & Draft, Amsterdam, 25 Feb 2017) Dark amber colour with dense, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with caramel, dried fruit, red berries and cherries. Malty, fruity taste with notes of dried fruit, raisins, caramel, candy sugar, cherries in brandy and a vinous, warming finish with a mild bitterness. Full body, quite sweet. Powerful, and possibly a touch too sweet, but quite tasty and warming. Nice one.

(Draught at Craft & Draft, Amsterdam, 25 Feb 2017) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of coffee, dark chocolate and cacao. Malty, roasted taste with lots of fresh black coffee, dark chocolate, cacao, liquorice and a generous coffee bitterness. Full body, quite dry. Solid and well made imperial stout, with a fresh and generous coffee character. Very nice.

Bottle shared at home courtesy of Maakun. Hazy cardinal red with white head. Sweet and sour raspberries, bit of plastified cardboard, milk skin. Moderate sweet and quite sour. Medium body, soft carbonation. A lot of weird "off" tastes in this, but there’s also a beautiful raspberry in there. Wish I could sip the good apart from the bad. The good in this tastes extraordinary good, but each sip it’s immediately terminated by the bad, sickly weird plasticcy milk skin finish.
