Description

We brouwen ons bier volgens de slogan "Beer for Thought".

Sampled from bottle @ THT November. Very dark brown to black color, small to average sized off-white head. Smell and taste lightly malts, sour, a hint of dark malts. Hmm don’t really like it, too sour for me. Meh.

Black with dark creamy head. Aroma has roasted malt and a fruity sourness. Flavour is surprisingly sharp and sweet (like blackcurrants). Not sure if this one was ok. Need to try again...

Bottle from Biermoment, dated 06 Aug 2014, large sample, served in an Oersoep tulip. Slight hazy amber to copper color, big frothy off-white head. Aroma is grassy, grapefruit, funky Brett (infection?), flowery, bit barnyard, bubblegum. Slight sweet taste, citrussy bitterness, bit funky again. Quite dry, but with a slight sweet tooth. Medium to high carbonation, thin to medium body. I dont think the Brett is supposed to be there, but as Im a big fan of Brett, it reminds me of the Oersoep en garde series, especially in flavor, which I absolutely love. Aroma is a bit unbalanced now however.

Brewda . Pours unclear amber , No real head . Smell is funky , herbal/vegetable . taste is bitter , grainy , herbal and perfumy . With all due respect for the brewer - who is a really nice guy - I honoustly do not like this beer ... I guess anything with a vegetable taste will never score higher than 3/5 for me anyways ... Intense taste for the ABV though .

Draft at Kaapse Brouwers. It’s like drinking a strong coffee, with some notes of malt and nice warming alcohol. The oat works well, gives an extra spicy touch. Good beer, but needs a bit more body.
