Description

Bottle bought at my local butcher's shop (Bruges), to celebrate its anniversary, and to promote this new microbrewery in Ghent. The label states to leave the deposit in the bottle, but I pour most of it in one glass and the rest with deposit in another.
Without deposit: hazy golden with a quickly disappearing, white head. The aroma contains lots of yeast, barnyard, basement aromas, spices, some fruits and cooked vegetable. It tastes medium bitter and light sweet with a dry finish. Light, almost medium body, watery texture, soft carbonation. A bit soapy.
With deposit: cloudy ochre, no head, and indeed lots of dregs. More yeast in the aroma, earth, dust, cellar, some spices. Medium bitter and leaning towards light sour. Dry finish, and rather 'heavy' on the stomach. Palate remains the same.
All in all, an interesting brew (with an 'old fashioned' aroma) that needs some polishing but unfortunately, that doesn't automatically give it a pleasant taste...

19/VIII/17 - 33cl bottle @ Gents Bierfestival - BB: n/a (2017-1272) Thanks to the Belgian ratebeer crew for sharing today's beers and celebrating my 10K!
Pretty cloudy amber beer, creamy solid beige head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: very malty, grains, caramel, bit spicy, fruity. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: quite some citrus, very malty, grains, some caramel, bit fruity. Aftertaste: pretty fruity, citrus, very light soft bitterness, some dried fruits, raisins. In all a pretty light and refreshing ale. Even though probably intended as a crowd pleaser, I think experienced beer tasters will often like it as well. (Thanks 77ships for proving me wrong :p )

Bottle from Dranken Geers, Oostakker, Nr Gent, Belgie, consumed at home whilst cooking Conchiglioni with Salmon and Dill and a Pannatonne Bread and Butter Pudding for dessert. Pours gold/light amber with a white bubbly head. My first impressions are of a soapy Belgian washing up liquid type golden/Tripel (it’s not great!). The nose has a plasticy and yeasty aroma. Sweet but lacks depth, struggling with this, it’s not offensive but it’s not great either. A5 A4 T4 P2 Ov9 2.4

Clear orange beer, small creamy off-white head, little stable, bit adhesive, leaving some lacing in the glass. Aroma: some citrus, malts, grains, hay. MF: lively carbon, medium body. Taste: lots of banana, bit yeasty, pretty sweet, soft bitterness, spicy touch. Aftertaste: pretty hoppy after all, yeast, banana, coriander maybe? More yeast and banana in the finish.

Pours unclear blonde, small white head. Smell is bitter. Very yeasty. Taste is very yeasty as well. Not refreshing at all. Very metallic, bit ’wrang’ as well. High carbo , extremely high. Some aspects point out to mild dyacethyl, which turns intense later on. Freakishly full of DMS . Possible a bit infected to. How wrong can it be ?
